CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1951 twelve Freshmen entered Belleville Mennonite High School. We were: Dolores N. Kauffman, Velma Stoltzfus, Esther Espigh, Ray- mond French, Roy Hartzler, Leroy Kauffman, Mar- vin Roberts, Marlin Yoder, Robert Lepley, Louis Peachey, Ralph Metzler and Aaron Yoder. Under the guidance of our teachers: Floyd Zook, Edgar Clemens and Louis Peachey we studied algebra, biology, American History, English and the Bible. We took time out from our regular classes to visit the nursery at Greenwood Furnace and the American Viscose Corporation at Lewistown. These field trips gave us a better understanding of the industries and natural resources of Pennsylvania. Two of our original class members- -Marlin Yod- er and Aaron Yoder--did not join us at the begirming of the Sophomore year. That year our class schedule included English, typing, Pennsylvania History, civics, general science and Bible. Edgar Clemens, Alphie Zook, Zelda Yoder, Floyd Zook and Jacob Weirich were our teachers. In February we accepted Judge Lehman's invitation to observe a court session at the Mifflin County court house. All of us returnedi to Belleville Mennonite School the fall of 1953 with new enthusiasm, knowing that before the year was over we would have avail- able additional recreation facilities. To the sounds of pounding hammers and workmen's voices we prepared our experiments for chemistry, our con- versations for Spanish, our panel discussions for Problems of Democracy, and our class discussions for Bible Doctrine. We enjoyed a field trip to the Fiberglass factory at Huntingdon during its tenth anniversary celebration. All of us reported for the refreshments and souvenirs which were provided by the company. At the beginning of our Senior year Jesse Peachey, a former student at B.M.S., joined our class but Marvin Roberts did not return. There were several changes in the faculty also. Edgar Clemens, our former English teacher, was replaced by Stanley Kreider, Clare Martin taught in the history and Bible departments. We energetically tackled the problems presented to us in our English, Spanish, Algebra, World History, Bible and Physics classes. Memories of aching muscles after a hard climb to the top of Stone Mountain or Jacks Mountain on school hikes, singing together the choruses and great hymns of the church during chorus practice and programs, and pet peeves and jokes of our teachers will be remembered long after we forget many of the things which we have studied these four years. Our high school experiences were climaxed with a three day trip to New York City near the and of the school term. There we had the oppor- tunity of enjoying the subtle taste of Chinese food, the excitement of a hurrying city as we stood on a street corner on Times Square, the rhythm and atmos- phere of a ferry on a evening ride to Staten Island, the music of a Carnegie Hall performance and the serenity and majesty of the city's great cathedrals. Now that our high school career has ended we pause to relive in our minds, the interesting and stimulating experiences which we have shared with each other and to express our concern that the future graduates may be enriched by the Christian fellowship which we have experienced at Belleville Mennonite School.
