Some of the boys played on the varsity squads in the 'various sportsg casts were chosen, drilled, rehearsed, and beaten into shape for the junior Playg and along with several other dances came the traditional J-Hop, with it's formal gowns and polished manners. We found that these activities required a lot of time and hard work but lacking nothing in ambition and talent, the class made a success of every endeavor. This was a task in which we took great pleasure. However, there were no casualties reported, which indicates that we were very just and lenient judges of the qualities of the class of '48. During that year studies became more difficult, and as we waded up to our necks in Latin and Geometry, we found that this business of getting an education was a serious one. As things got harder, several of the members of the class dropped out, but those of us who stayed on were drawn closer together by the res- ponsibilities which were placed upon us. We sponsored our first dance durirg that year, and the funds in our treasury began to grow. By the end of the year we had our new class rings, and were feeling quite well about life in general. After all, high school was half over. 51300011 1 journalism 4 Carolyn Bird Romona Bond Clare Bradley Anne Bradshaw 'Birdie' ..Monie.. Baseball 3 Class Plays 3-4 0F 194 At last the time had come! We were SENIORS. No more upper classmen around to look down their noses at our escapades. Here was Utopia, the prom- ised land of snap courses, lots of class meetings, few classes, and more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Again came the sad but true revelation that these were just a few more idle rumors, that the subjects were just as hard as before, and that the extra acti- vities just left less time in which to do the book work. It was all a lot of fun though, the Senior Play, the Prom, the trip to Chicago in the Spring, and all of the other things which, together, made it the greatest year we spent in school, and a very happy conclusion of our high school education.
