This was a task in which we took great pleasure. However, there were no casualties reported, which indicates that we were very just and lenient judges of the qualities of the class of '48. During that year studies became more difficult, and as we waded up to our necks in Latin and Geometry, we found that this business of getting an education was a serious one. As things got harder, several of the members of the class dropped out, but those of us who stayed on were drawn closer together by the res- ponsibilities which were placed upon us. We sponsored our first dance durirg that year, and the funds in our treasury began to grow. By the end of the year we had our new class rings, and were feeling quite well about life in general. After all, high school was half over. 51300011 1 journalism 4 Carolyn Bird Romona Bond Clare Bradley Anne Bradshaw 'Birdie' ..Monie.. That initiation was quite an affair, and was, of course, a great thrill to all of us who were about to enter an entirely different type of life. After we got into the swing of things, time slipped quickly by and the end of the school year was upon us. Some of the boys played on the varsity squads in the 'various sportsg casts were chosen, drilled, rehearsed, and beaten into shape for the junior Playg and along with several other dances came the traditional J-Hop, with it's formal gowns and polished manners. We found that these activities required a lot of time and hard work but lacking nothing in ambition and talent, the class made a success of every endeavor.
