HISTORY OF THE SENIOR CLASS OF 48 Thxs history has a very modest purpose To revxew the past, to enjoy the present and prepare for the future Tlus hlstory of past events IS to be undertaken solely for the purpose of txcklmng the mental vanxty by re calling pleasant memorles to the mind of those dzgmfled Semors of 1948 Lxke our forefathers of the early seventeenth century they were dnven from the placxd shores of the Grades' to land in 1944 on the rugged but welcome Freshmen pemnsula of the Bellevxlle High School steps In th1s flrst year we see the early settlers sturdy pxoneers for the three years to come namely Development and Progress fSophomores and .Tumors and the modern perxod Senxorsj A large group of settlers set sa1l from The Grades in the Sprmg of 1944, solemnly but cheerfully slgnmg themr names to the Charter of Enroll ment The settlement was organlzed and estabhshed 1n Bellevxlle Hxgh School that fall under the leadershlp of Presxdent L. C Elhott who w1th untlrmg ef forts guxded lus co workers Through successwe stages of development ln the Sophomores through the Semor year many of our number fought for thexr place on the Honor Roll of Dorxs Jean Harms Nancy Apple Delvls Taylor and Bobby Moudy Other members of our class have gamed recogmtlon ln other act1v1t1es on the cam pus of Bellevmlle Hxgh School After four years of work 1n th1s settlement eleven of us have come to the end of the pathe of wxlderness and are now ready to leave for the clearmg a head of us These eleven are Dons Jean Harms, Anna Sue Caldwell Nancy Apple Ocle Lee Rutledge Pauhne Splvey Lela Kmght Frances Rhoads, Delvls Taylor B111 Madden Doyle Bryant and Bobby Moudy Durmg our four years we lost the following frxends, Vlola Rlchardson, Edxth Walls Wendell Stephens, Glydon Madden Johnny Howsley, Lulu May Barnette and Bonme Stacks It IS our profound hope that the sa1ls of Time and Earnest Effort wxll carry each of us towards the shores of Health Wealth and Happmess and anchor them m the Harbor of Success akxafawkwrxwksfrxsu-mxswkxxaktxxstxxsvvarxtxxxxwrx PROPHECY OF THE SENIOR CLASS We were afrald we would see Dons Jean Harris as a calendar xn later years as she had so many dates, but we belxeve she has decxded to settle down We see Bobby Moudy as Pres1dent of Plnlhps 66 O11 Company wnth Mzldred as Secretary For the latest 1n ha1r styles V1S1t the recently estabhshed Frances Rhoads Beauty Salon on Hollywood and Vlne n u o o 1 1 . . i : ' I 1 ' - Belleville High School. Prophecy of the Senior Class of 48 Continued With that diamond flashing on the 3rd finger of the left hand we can see Pauline Spivey busy sweeping dusting and sewing on collar buttons We see Lela Knight a very attractive blonde in a New York office doing the work of a very efficient secretary We see B111 Madden in the place of Lester Gooch drawing the comic strip of Fearless Fosdick for the New York Herald and all daily papers Delvis Taylor will be a civil engineer He will build railroads over the earth and moon lay out airlines between the planets while he plays basket ball with the stars Doyle Bryant and his band have finally reached Broadway and guess who the star vocalist is She is no other than the great soprano Ocie Lee Rutledge ln the future years we see Anna Sue Caldwell a graduate nurse in a large hospital 1n Brooklyn Who knows she may be head of the hospital some day all the latest styles in women s wear we:wok:wo:xxx:xxvxskxarvwxavxarskvar-rwrxvx SENIOR CLASS WILL We the class of 48 of the Belleville High School County of Yell State of Arkansas United States of America having come through our four years in this dear old school having greedily and very willingly devoured all the fruits of knowledge witlun our reach in leaving do hereby bequest and bequeath the following To Mr Rhoads we leave all the gum we failed to chew and our love for sitting together To Mrs Apple we leave our excuses for being late to class and our hatred for homework To Mr Hall we leave a lesson on How not to Blush which we hope he will study regularly To Mrs Dyer the girls leave their recipe for making muffins with water and fudge when she 15 absent The boys leave her the bread remaining in the lunchroom To Mr Ryan we leave him all the love and respect that is due him and the thanks that he deserves for helping us through these last two years of hard work. To the Junior Class we leave our books, seats and senior dignity. To them we leave our ability of long arguments during class meetings. To the Sophomores we leave our favorite typewriters and ability of doing and thinking later. To the Freshmen we leave our great ability to skip classes.
