A distinguished class found capable leadership in the following officers: Charles Henson, treasurer: Maurice Mitchell, vice-president: Phyllis Donaldson, president: Eleanor Lund, secretary. The able juniors of '47 became the full-fledged seniors of '48, This mighty class was made up of scholars, musicians, and athletes who proved their worth in the events held throughout the year. Sadie Hawkin's Day was celebrated in traditional dog-patch style at a dance at the Legion Hall, sponsored by this alert and lively class, Maurice Mitchell was named Little Abner, a typical representative of the other forty- six seniors. From their ranks came the lovely Football Queen, Luella Johnson, and the first Basketball Queen, Mary Lou Rightmeier. ln the sports field, Maurice Mitchell and Dale Kirk were chosen co-captains of the football squad. Dale was again named honorary basketball captain of the '47-'48 B. B. Season. Two seniors, Eleanor Lund and lvol Gant, were crowned St. Pat and St. Patricia at the annual St. Pat's Prom. Numerous seniors took part in the music broadcast from KSAC, in the musical, Make Ours Music , and in the annual band concert. The second semester found the seniors working together to present a riotous comedy entitled Love ls Too Much Trouble. Under the direction of Mrs. Houdek, the cast gave a performance, hard to surpass. Working hard to meet the financial goal for the sneak, the seniors engaged in a successful food-sale, and sold at numerous basketball games, To climax the year, the class left the unsuspecting under-classmen for a day to explore the metropolis of Kansas City. Mr. Hodges and Mrs. Houdek, the sponsors, proved their ability to keep pace with this adventurous class. That day will be long remembered. The usual whirl of banquets, initiations, teas, and rehearsals was all-absorbing, climaxed by the Jr.-Sr. Prom which everyone enjoyed immensely. In the words of a senior: The assembly when we gave our class yell for the last time, the Jr.-Sr. Prom, the musicals, classes, plays, clubs, games, and all the other activities which one associates with high school life, will always follow us and remain the highlights of our days at B.H.S.
