IN MEMORIAM W. William Whitley December 28, 1934 — November 5, 1982 Mr William Whitley, was born and raised in the town of Ellisburg. In 1952, he graduated from Belleville Central School and then attended Cornell University for two years. After college Bill returned to Ellisburg to assist his father in operating the family farm. For a short time he worked in restaurants in Adams Center and Ithaca as an assistant cook and as a manager, respectively, after which Bill returned to the farm and purchased it in 1959. He con- tinued running the family farm until 1974 when he then became Postmaster of Ellisburg, a post he held until his retirement in the summer of 1982. Mr Whitley, also, held a number of positions in various organizations in the communities of Ellisburg, Belleville, and Adams He has been recognized as an honorable member of the Belleville Central School Board and of the Union Academy of Belleville board of trustees Mr William Whitley, was a dear and respected friend to many in the community and will be long remembered for his kindness and courage throughout his illness. Bill's cheerful ways are missed by all who knew him and the graduating class of 1983 would like to offer our sincere regrets to his family and friends.
