Miss Betty Jane Lockington n A Penn State graduate with a Master ' s De- gree, you came to Bellefonte High in 1929. Your first position here was that of head of the Foreign Language Department. A tour of Eu- rope and a year of study in France further broadened your knowledge of foreign languages. In 1947 you were appointed Head of the Eng- lish Department at B.H.S. and have continued in this post. We seniors have known you as a teacher for only three years; yet, in this short time we have come to realize how priceless your aid and guid- ance has been to us. Especially are we grateful for your efforts in helping us to appreciate fine literature and in encouraging us to read it. In grateful appreciation of your 36 years of service, we seniors dedicate the 1965 LaBelle to you, Miss Lockington.
