r- ' • ' wf a— La 1 9 6 5 Belle BELLEFONTE AREA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Bellefonte, Pennsylvania d  ' jRQn.lfi This year the 1965 yearbook staff is celebrating the golden anniver- sary of the La Belle. Fifty years ago, the first Bellefonte High School yearbook, then called The Belle, was published by the senior class. For fifty years each La Belle has recorded the activities of the year. It will be the job of this, the 1965 La Belle, to tell the story of this year — the familiar faces, the thrill of athletic events, teachers, and activities. We, the staff of the 1965 La Belle, hope that this book will, in future years, bring back memories of achievements and good times during our years at Bellefonte High School. Miss Betty Jane Lockington n A Penn State graduate with a Master ' s De- gree, you came to Bellefonte High in 1929. Your first position here was that of head of the Foreign Language Department. A tour of Eu- rope and a year of study in France further broadened your knowledge of foreign languages. In 1947 you were appointed Head of the Eng- lish Department at B.H.S. and have continued in this post. We seniors have known you as a teacher for only three years; yet, in this short time we have come to realize how priceless your aid and guid- ance has been to us. Especially are we grateful for your efforts in helping us to appreciate fine literature and in encouraging us to read it. In grateful appreciation of your 36 years of service, we seniors dedicate the 1965 LaBelle to you, Miss Lockington. fin Jflffift WBS££ Table of Contents Faculty and Administration Page 5 Classes Page 13 Sports Page 53 Activities Page 67 Advertising Page 117 FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION . . . at Bellefonte High School has expanded to 58 teachers and administrators com- pared to a faculty of nine in 1915.
