It s not a make believe world any more. Now is the time of decision, graduation, and the future. You see the world change around you. You see yourself change too. You make new friend- ships and part with old friends. With growing comes responsibility and maturity. It's hard to accept, but life is growing... 4 5 Hoping Dreams of expectations; of bright promises in the years ahead. Hoping the next twelve years go as well as the first did. Looking ahead with mixed feelings. Feelings of sadness, happiness, fear, and anticipation. Making those last minute plans for college, marriage, or jobs. Hoping for only the best. 6 7 Years Of Struggling Life is a struggle. There's even a struggle among friends and enemies. A struggle for identy, to be able to say '1 AM M£! It never ends, you always are reaching for that goal. You want to say '1 did it ! 8 Competing Competition is stress in everything we do. There's al- ways that constant motivation for success. We see it in wrestling, band, football, plays, and in ourselves. We want to be the best. But to be able to do this, we need everyone's help. We don't need just athletes, we need fans, the spirit, cheerleaders, coaches, everyone to make a team win. 10 11 SENIORS Seniors ... Here we are... about to go forth into the bustling world of life. Our days spent at B.P.H.S. hold many memories which we shall cherish for years to come. 91 vwrfrmy Ir f) ' xaAao q ff KPO cr ir™c7 A fort CciA l Cm .bcdJUL iQjl ddy4A J2a uL JuUwrq J AGlL %jA Ju W mrwk 4JL 4 G rov JOcc_ CJlo lbttL 'Ndaa GbayyJb ftfod yJ 6oia1kx o 'lL Jli)cn« v i2u y xj MCdt X 'lsrrt+v u 18 Kje-mp QJUU HOurr UfncU tfxtffi; 19 CjLncty (rtaajMi 20 ty j£JL juSiM JVflrr L O J V]0tMb(l. fAoJUj f cJiu l We had to put this in the yearbook. The Tiger volleyball team was lead by four exper- ienced senior players. It was a tough season with close matches against Arlington, Norwood, and Le Sueur and another close match against Waterville at Dis- trict. Renee Schultz received All-Conference honors with Gloria Schlingmann getting honorable mention. For next year, Miss Wilhelmi expects a lot of depth and chances for the conference championship look good. 38 Janel shows what it takes to achieve a 3-4 record. In District play, the team beat Faribault Deaf 36-27 and then lost to Bethlehem Academy 49-19. Coach Sauter said, the team was fairly young with four seniors, seven juniors, and two sopho- mores. Much improvement was shown from the opening of practice to our final season game. Improvement came in the areas of skills, va- rious types of recognition awarenesses and de- fense. The attitude of the team was good and they were willing to work to improve their individual game. All-Conference went to Renee Schultz. Joy Pudlitzke got honorable mention. Many girls tried out for the team but a large percentage had to be turned away. As with any new sport, the first season was rough and saw very few wins. One highlight was a 37-18 victory over Waterville. Coach Wilhelmi is hoping that with one year of experience, next year will show improvement and more wins for B.P.H.S. Mr. Sauter's track team participated in thirteen meets. Hie girls won their first meet in the school's history’. There were only five seniors out of forty-four who par- ticipated so next year looks even better. In the Con- ference meet, Pam Morris took third in the 180 hur- dles and fourth in the long jump. Joy Pudlitzke took fourth and Jodi Schuneman fifth in the high jump. Jodi also placed fourth in the 440 relay and sixth in the 880 relay. Barb Klehr was sixth in the 220. At the District, Pam Morris was fifth in 220, second in the long jump and she won the 180 hurdles. He pitched eighty-five innings and was involved in most of the decisions. He finished with an E.R.A. of 2. 29. Our next pitcher was Tim Brown who pitched fourteen innings. Prospects were very encouraging at the beginning of the season as eighteen lettermen greeted Coach Pudlitzke. Thirty-three boys showed up for the first meeting and twenty-six finished the season with twenty-two earning letters. The team won seven of their twelve regular season meets, placed fifth in the Conference and third in the District. Conference champions were Don Henderson in the pole vault and Sheldon Busch in the two mile. District champions were the 880 relay team of Dave Halbmaier, Tim Beck, Henrik Wrangdahl, and Jerry Kucera and Don Henderson in the pole vault. Jim Bartholow was our number one high jumper, miler, and also ran on the mile relay team that was runner up in the District. Henrik Wrangdahl ran the 100, 220, long jump, and ran a leg of the 880 relay that won the District cham- pionship. Jerry Kucera ran the 220 and a leg of the 880 relay also. Jeff Geisler and Mark Busch were unable to complete the season due to illness and injury but they should be back leading an impressive list of re- turning lettermen next spring when the season rolls around. The King And I THE KING AND I is a musical about the King of Siam ruling his kingdom in the manner his ancestors had done, but realizing the need for change. He hires an English school teacher, Anna, who introduces Christi- anity and modem philosophies to him and his family. The King does not understand the changes and it causes conflicts between himself and Anna. The play ends with the inevitable - the King dies of a broken heart as the result of not being able to accept the changes to his kingdom. FFA And FHA The FFA's school projects have been a booth at the State Fair, cattle judg- ing, an all day demonstration at the State Fair, public speaking, and sales and service contest. The members have worked hard on many community projects as well. They planted trees on the Scott County Fairgrounds, had a com drive for Camp Courage, and built a storage shed by the elemen- tary school. Other FFA activities were the National Convention in Kansas City, the State Convention in St. Paul, and the District Banquet in Win- throp. A banquet was held by the FFA, to give Proficiency Awards to mem- bers who have earned it through the year. The junior high FHA had another busy year. In October, they held a Hal- loween party for pre-schoolers. November 1 they attended the FHA Dis- trict Convention at Jordan. Other activities were a bake sale, Christmas caroling, and wreath sales. A social event for the club was a trip to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. In the spring the girls were sold as slaves and sponsored a dance for the junior high. The annual Parents' Banquet was April 26, to honor parents and grant awards for active members. The year ended with a picnic. 84 FHA: FRONT ROW: Linda Uebhard, Kim Devine, Laurie McCormick, Pauline Savage, Sue Koepp, Kay Steinhaus. The students can be proud of their accomplishments. They have given the school much to appreciate. During the year they purchased additional lights to be used for the plays and musicals. At Christmas, they took a trip to Southdale for a little holiday shopping. They purchased the memory books for the junior-senior prom. A trip to the Minnesota Kicks game with the SAE was another fun activity. Once again they held their calendar sales and donated money to the ambulance service. The student council also paid for Henrik and Elizabeth's senior pic- tures. Sadie Hawkins dance and a junior high dance were held. There was also a girls slave auction. Yes, it was another busy year! Dr. Bartholow worked efficently in conjunction with the school board to provide the necessary leadership to help initiate and carry out the policies for the func- tioning of our school district. Mr. Keohane had time to teach an aviation class sec- ond semester along with his duties of keeping order and disciplining the students. Mr. Clymer continued the District Newsletter and managed our fifth year of mini courses. All in all, the students agree that it was a pretty good year but they were disappointed that the administra- tion began the unpopular task of removing honor passes from all students. % Mr. Keohane is surrounded by cheerleaders who want another pepfest. WESTERMAN LUMBER COMPANY 218 North Meridian 873-2868 The TIGERIAN would like to bid the Class of 1977 a final good-bye and good luck! There are many people who come to our school every day for nine months, yet are never touched by student life in the classroom. However, there are still many real students who participate in the student life as a whole, and who in the face of competition, bear many accomplishments of lasting value to themselves, to the school, and to the town. These students the TIGERIAN and the school must thank. We would also like to thank Mrs. Wenisch, our advi- sor, John Hix Studio of Montgomery, John Smith of Josten's American Yearbook Company, the school photographers, and the Belle Plaine business people who made this yearbook possible by their contributions. These people have made it for your yearbook to be published, and for you to always recall the memories of a wonderful year. For you, the gloom of defeat, the surprise of a queen, the trials and tribulations of everyday, the laughter of friendship, the fun of being and working together, the trauma of finals and the ultimate goal - graduation. 128 WORLD EVENTS 7 15 76 AMY’S ON TOP — Jimmy Carter holds daughter.
