At the Homecoming Bonfire, Co-captains, Cliff Klehr and Dave Hottinger, gave pep talks. Football practice began on schedule and a group of 35 enthusiastic boys reported for the season's work. Coach Miller and his assistant, Mr. Nielsen, worked long and hard pulling the squad into shape. Although the record of the '54 grid season is not too impressive on paper, the future looks bright, because there are some promising under-classmen coming back. Among those wearing the Red and White for the last time were Bob Moody, Dave Hottinger, Cliff Klehr, Einard Karnitz, Tom Hessian, Gene Lucy, Wayne Larson, Kerian O'Brien, and Dick Schense. The Senior Chorus, under the excellent direction of Mrs. Eliza- beth Albrecht, has grown to be one of the largest, most effective organizations in our school. Their first appearance before the public was at the Junior Class Play. They presented three selections which were Evening In Vienna , Colorado Trail , and Czecho-Slovakian Dance Song . In the true Christmas spirit, the Senior Chorus, Freshmen Glee Club, Senior Band, and Speech Class, combined their talents to pre- sent to the students the Christmas Program, on December 18. Parts of th ? traditional Gloria In Excelsis Deo , were included in the pro- gram. With spring came more activities for the chorus. The two main events were the District Music Contest and the Spring Concert. The final appearance of the chorus was at the commencement services on May 26. Four selections climaxed the work of the chorus for the past year. They were O Spirit Who From Jesus Came ', Halls Of Ivy , Now The Day Is Over , and Onward Ye People . She seals all her orders with a Pat . Gene Lucy is only 39, but he's still trying to box his way to the Golden Gloves. His sponser is Meager Blue Blades . Lois Ciminski just received a trophy for recognition as the Best Bubble Maker in the State . Clifford Klehr just slid into first place with Tommy Dorsey. He even has a special mute carrier. Who? Margaret Ann, of course! lone Kosmen has been showing off the riches contained in her right arm through the mink coat she won on Bolerama. Rosemary Habeck wound up in Africa. What's she doing there? Diamond mining, naturally! Einard Karnitz is employed as an automatic shade puller in the now 19 year old new school. Bill Kruschke has found it more profitable to be a bookee, than to try to make his living singing. Vera Bergs has stolen the show from Kate Smith, and guess who the newly hired bass player is! David Hottinger has taken up shorthand. Maybe Edith can read that, which is more than you can say for his longhand. Joan Goetz has developed some mighty good leg muscles. It's said she's chasing some Coon . Edward Malz has become quite efficient at writing. He should be, seeing as he's almost finished with the huge dictionary that used to be in the assembly. John Murphy has developed quite a taste for Swiss Chard , and is now operat- ing a Swiss Chard factory. Kathy Minton has humbly accepted the honor of Mrs. America of 1975. Warren Wolfe has been the most successful, in my opinion, said Arvilla; he has crossed a mink with a kangaroo, and is raising fur coats with fur pockets in them.
