After Rg. cruit Training he attended Radar Operator School at Point Loma, San Diego, was stationed aboard the USS CLARFJN. DON KAPA-72D and the USS EPCEKRJ 857. In February of 1947 he attended GCA School in Olathe, Kansas, where he changed his rate to AC2. Duty as an Air Controlman in- cluded NAS Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, 19l8th AACS, Rhien Main AFB, Frankfurt, Germany, NAS Port Lyautey, French Morocco, and NAS, St. Louis, Missouri. In 1955 he received orders to Officeris Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He was commissioned ENSIGN, USN, in September, 1955. LT Hobbs holds the following awards and medals: Good Con- duct medal QZJ, Asiatic-Pacific Area with one bronze star, American Area, China Service, WW II Victory,LNavy Occupa- tion with Airlift Device, Humanitarian Award, and National Defense. LT Hobbs married Patricia Ann Poole of Carterville, Ill., in 1952. LT and Mrs. Hobbs have three children: Cassandra Lee, 10, Deborah Lynn, 9, and Steven Leonard, 2. W. L. On 7 September, l95l, Commander Bain married Rita M. Dougherty of Annapolis, Ma,-ryland. Com- mander and Mrs. Bain have three children: Edwin C. Bain Ill, age ll, Robert B. Bain, 7, and Beth A. Bain, 3. Commander Bain holds the following campaign and service medals: China Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre fill, American Theatre, Philippine Liberation flj, World Wai' Il Victory, National Defense, Philip- pine Presidential Unit Citation and the American Defense Medal.
