It is the primary job of the Navigator and men of HN Division to provide the answer. Having accurate information available at all times en- tails many hours of chart correcting and keeping pub- lications up to date. A day,s work for the Quarter- master usually consists of celestial observations or piloting in addition to keeping a rough log while stand- ing bridge watches as Quartermaster of the Watch. Under the close super- vision of Olson. MMC, these are the men who pull the throttles which run the skinners and make ,the screws turn. They are about the last 'cup and downern Machinist Mates in the Navy. In addition to Hpulling the throttle,', these men also watch the steam pressure and take tank soundings.
