Frank Kober Superintendent I wish that we might all be more thorough students of the past, for we should thus be rendered braver prophets of the future, and more cheerful workers in the present. A careful study of the history of this great nation of ours, its struggles for existence, its moments of elation, its heroes, its steady economic, political, and religious pro- gress, will spur us on to greater achievements today and in the future. However, we are realists. We are living in the present, not the past. We are anticipating the future, but regard- less of this reality and anticipation, we know that we as a nation and as a people have attained our high place as a nation, our high standard as a people, because of the experiences of our predecessors and their ability to add to previous experiences and to convert these experiences into progress. Here is our challenge. Can We correct and profit by the errors of the past, add to our inherited experiences, and mold these into new experiences of our own and promote progress in the direction of peace, prosperity and spiritual well-being? If we can do this then we are worthy recipients of our place in the world today. To the students of Belle High: May your stay with us be a profitable one. School life may be filled with so many challenging events, all of which may have some educational value in one way or another. What you learn in your formal classroom recitations is one educational factor and what you learn by the association of other people in organizations, com- mittee meetings, plays, or group discussions is another educational experience. All of which, must have a place in your lives to make an interesting experience. The idea that learning is a product of the classroom, and that one's education is completed when one leaves the classroom, is rapidly passing. We now feel education is generally re- garded as a continuous process which begins at birth and continues into the late adult years. Be proud of your school and help make it the best! 6 Wm.
