Halloween Carnival The Halloween Carnival was held on October 31, 1951. In the afternoon a parade was led by Judy Bazzle riding horseback, followed by the Band, Queen and her attendants, and floats from each of the upper six grades. In the evening there was a play, crowning of the Queen, masquerade judging, and then the concessions were opened The Homecoming Game The game was played on a cold and miserable night with a sharp, biting wind blowing across the field. But, regardless of weather, many local fans flocked to see the Eagles come to an overwhelming victory over the Degraff Pirates. During the half the Queen was crowned in a very cool, but colorful ceremony. The Queen and her attendants were brought onto the field preceding the band. After a few numbers, the Band formed a heart while the ceremony was taking place. The Queen's attendants were introduced in order: 7th, Peggy Rhoades, 8th, Joan Johnston, 9th, Annabelle Bailey: 10th Ann Laughlin, llth, Marylyn Doyle. Then the Queen, Donna Minter, was introduced to the captains of each team after which last year's Queen, Shirley Swartz., crowned her Queen of the Homecoming Football Game. After the football game the alumni, high school students and teachers, both football teams and cheerleaders were invited to attend a 50-50 Dance in the Belle Center Gymnasium. Library 'Mrs. Rhoades has been working very hard the past two years to get the library books recorded and classified. We have a very nice selection of fiction, history, science, biology and literature. Others sources of information are the Encyclopedia Britannicas, World Books, and Atlas. ,Student Council The Student Council is the Student Governing Body of the high school building. The officers are chosen by the upper six grades and each class is responsible for choosing their representatives to serve on the Council. b The Halloween Carnival, the first Homecoming Football Game and Dance ever held here, and the Christmas Scene on our school lawn have all been under the auspices of the Student Council. Arranging for Honor Letters and the revisal of a Council Constitution are being completed by the committees in charge. C Chapel Committee The Chapel programs this year have proved to be very interesting. Each Senior, and his committee made up of students from grades seven to eleven, have had charge of one chapel during the year. Mrs. Rhoades and the Chape1,Committee members have helped with ideas and plans for their programs. The committees are to becongratulated for the responsibility they have taken and for the fine manner in which they have carried it out. 30
