Class History It is true that many classes count their class life as being twelve years, and the history of the Class of 5l of Belle CenterAHigh dates first at the point, twelve years ago, when approximately 45 children started in the first grade to form the Class of 5l , however, we are going to leave that part of our past unhallowed and unsung, in- asmuch as our early life was very similar to the early lives of all good children. Our might at that time was not looked on very seriously by the teachers, but their looks upon us reminded us of the greedy ogres of our Fairy Tales and their classrooms as so many caves wherein they could destroy us. We were surely a cosmopolitan group. There were the Templetons and the Krouses from North Wood, the Korcks from Yelverton, the Minters and the Myerses from Jumbo, and, of course, the Millins, Rosses, Houchins, Fabers and many more came from our town--Belle Center. These and many others came flocking in from all parts of our fair county. In September, 1945, we started our final half of school. We were in the High School Building now, and we had Miss Dixon as our home room teacher. In the 8th grade we moved to the back study hall and were in the same room with the Greeny-Freshmen. AT LAST WE WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL: We entered our high school career with our initiation part--some initiation--can you remember, Mr. Dodge? By the time we were Sophomores we were noted for our hilarious parties. Also this year the girls left the boys behind and began to cast their eyes on upperclassmen! We had another home room teacher by the time we were Juniors. She was Miss Helen Irwin. We started thinking really seriously this year about preparing for our Senior trip. Also we wanted to give the Seniors a banquet. We sold refreshments at the ball games, sold candy at noon, and presented a play Along Came Kilroy. At the end of this year Betty Broadstone left us. At last we had reached our Senior year. An experience that no one should miss. Miss Ola Dixon came back to be our home room teacher. At the beginning of this year Jack Kerns left us after completing ll years at Belle Center School. We are graduating with 19 members, ten of which started school at Belle Center Public School. And now we are ready to depart from Belle Center High but I hope we shall never forget those friendships formed during our years together. Even though many little things have happened there which caused us unhappiness, we are truly sorry to leave and we shall remember not only our labors and trials but also our good times while striving under the colors of the Class of Sl --MAROON AND SILVER. National Honor Society The object of this society is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the develop- ment of character of students. Membership is based on scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Can- didates shall have spent one year in Logan County High Schools and shall be members of the Junior or Senior Classes. Eligible candidates must not have below an 857. average. Last spring Barbara Akers, Dolores Zimmerman, and James Templeton were chosen from Belle Center. As this was written before the candidates were chosen for this year, we were unable to include their names. Senior Scholarship Test- A test, put out by Ohio State University, is given in Bellefontaine each fall to the eligible Seniors in Logan County. A number of scholarships are awarded by Ohio State, if the winners go to Ohio State. This year Belle Center's entrants were: Rosella Krock, Donna Minter, Alice Templeton, Jean Zahller, and David Brandyberry. IZ
