As head of the Deck De- partment, the First Lieutenant is responsible, under the Com- manding Officer, for the supervision of deck seamanship, operations and evolutions; for the employment and maintenance of the armament and ordinance equipment of the ships; and for the procurement, handling, stowage and issue of ammunition and pyrotechnics. He plans and excutes the evolutions of anchoring, mooring, fueling and helicopter operations, and the one most closely associated with the mission of the ship-replen- ishment at sea. Ui C. B. He supervises the preparation of reports required by operation plans, operation orders and other directives; the control of rapid communlcatlons;and the mainten- ance of electronic equipment by operating personnel, and the re- pair of such equipment by electronics technicians assigned.
