The Lady Eagles were involved in a lot of close games where they were decided by six points or less. Three members of this year's team received honorable mentions in the Ski Valley All Conference honors. The three were: Heidi Lennox, Shayne Stanley and Chris Harbaugh. In addition, Heidi Lennox took an honorable mention in the Traverse City Record Eagle's All Area Team. Congratulations to the team and good luck next year!! The Cinderella Team The Bellaire Varsity Boys Basketball team had a great season. Although they had only a 10 8a 10 season record, they truly came through with a District Basketball title and won a Regional Basketball title, too. In the District games, Bellaire debacled Central Lake fthe Archrivall 68 to 63, and bouleversed the Ellsworth Lancers, with a score of 75 to 68. In this, the dark horse team had become the Cinderella Team. Also in this, the entire town of Bellaire was enchanted. Coach Borst hired a Greyhound bus for the team. Teachers and students made signs and noisemakers to support the team. Then, at Grayling, with over 800 screaming fans cheering them on, with tension and excitement running high, with Coach wearing his green jacket, with cheerleaders screaming their hearts out, the Eagles extirpated the Atlanta Huskies with a final score of 57 to 54, coming back from 12 points behind to win. This was the first time in 27 years this occurred. That night, the Bellaire Fire and Police Departments came and escorted the victorious team back to Bellaire. There was a time of celebration for the victory. Bellaire went on to play the Northport Huskiesg who later became the state champions: and did lose to them. But even in defeat, the citizens of Bellaire lined the streets of town to pay their respects to the hard worked team. Overall, the Eagles had a good season, and we'll look forward to seeing them again next year. 35 The JV Guys Put It Together N 4 O ' Qogioqaf Sa ggfflfg 0056 , Q M T lst Row Cleft to rightl: Todd Lucas, Doug Holcomb, Rob Puroll, Ken Wilson, Adam Pratt, Rob Case, Jim Beyne. 2nd Row: Coach Stan Sexton, Todd Charbonneau, Mike Clark, Scott Sheppard, Eric Nicholie, Dan Holton, Eric Ritchie, Dan Humphrey, Tuan Tran. sgiiiiiiitiiif Adam Pratt CClass of '91'D puts one in the bucket in a home game a- gainst the Central Lake Trojans. i -1 Future Basketball in Junior High Donavon lst Row Cleft to rightjz Steve Pat Lennox, Cory Arsnoe, Kyle Shumaker, Doug Edger. 2nd Row: Coach Dexter, Jeremy Lacy, Jeff Stilwell, Chris VanSice, Wayne Potter, Mike Beyne. CLASSSPONSORS Mr, George Pfalt Mr. Daniel Bennett Mr. Pratt and Mr. Bennett continued the progress that was made to improve the reputation of the senior class during the 87-88 school year. Before the Junior year of the Class of 1988 the members of the Class of 1988 were considered to be incapable of doing anything good But when our junior year came, Mr. Pratt and Mr. Bennett helped us to rebuild our image. Our class began extensive fundraising which resulted in every junior having the chance to go to the Prom free. After Prom expenditures were paid we had money left which we used along with money raised in our Senior year to pay for graduation. Through the overhaul we as a class became admired and stronger. These changes came about through the hard work of Mr. Pratt and Mr. Bennett and the Class of 1988 thanks them for definitely making us the subject of the HCinderellaH story.
