The Hi-Y emblem is a white cross on a blue Held, enclosed in a red triangle. These are all trimmed with gold. The red stands for American- ism and red-blooded manhood. The blue is for loyalty to Hi-Y ideals. The white is for Christ- ianity and purity. The purpose of the Hi-Y is to create, main- tain, and extend throughout the home, school, and community high standards of Christian character. This year's president and vice-president were sent to summer training at Camp Nelson Dodd. One of the biggest school dances is the Hi-Y- Y-Teens which was held last November. This year's officers are Stephen Foreman, president, Carl Givens, vice presidentg Ronald Nardo, secretary, Tom Kopyar, treasurerg and Robert Holloway, chaplain. The Bellaire Hi-Y is very fortunate in having such a fine and co-operative advisor as we have in Mr. Blind. Beta Hi -Y There are hundreds of Hi-Y Clubs all over the country. The Hi-Y is a branch of the Y.M.C.A. and is under the leadership of the Y.M.C.A. The club is composed of young men who wish to leam to lead better Christian lives. Its purpose is to create high standards of Christ- ian character. The Beta Hi-Y, just started this year, con- sists of freshman and sophomore boys. The offi- cers of the present club are President, Don Clarkg Vice-President, Tom Forbesg Secretary, Tommy Decker, Treasurer, Chester Fryeg and Chaplain, Reece Morgan. Our advisor is Mr. Eldred Bovenizer, who graciously devotes a share of his time to our club. This year we held our first formal initiation of new members. Three delegates attended the district meeting at Mt. Pleasant. They were Tommy Decker, Chester Frye, and Don Clark. A Hi-Y-Teen Snow ball was held on Novem- ber 30. Our club is a young one but in time will be a fine help to the community in training its young men. WHITE'S MARKET, Bellaire, Ohio 77 Football Resume Bellaire 6-Triadelphia 25 Our game with Triadelphia was played on a wet muddy field in the Wheeling Island Stad- ium. Triadelphia led 7-0 with 3 seconds to be played before intermission, when Jim Tekely intercepted a pass and ran 68 yds. for a T.D. But in the last half the Triads made 3 more T.D.'s. Bellaire 59-Garfield Heights 6 Our first home game was one to remember. The Big Beds couldnit be stopped. Our T.D.'s were made by Bill Bostancic and John Piehowicz, two each, Bill Thomas, Don Marn, Ioe Ault, Dan Harris, and Bob Bostancic. Sickles made 3 extra points and 2 points were made on a safety. We had good teamwork. Bellaire 46-Moundsville 0 The Big Beds struck by air to whip Mounds- ville on the Trojan field. Opening the game, Sickles kicked off for us and the ball rolled back to the Trojan 1 foot line where Steve Foreman recovered the ball for Bellaire. On the next play Bill Thomas scored. Three other T.D.'s were made by passes from Thomas to Bill Bostancic, Iohn Piehowicz, and Bob Munjas, 2 on inter- cepted passes by Dan Harris and Herb Sickles, and Bostancic made another. Sickles made 4 extra points. Bellaire 27-Linsly 13 This was another game of passing. At the half we were ahead 13-7, our T.D.'s being made by john Lancione and Dan Harris. In the sec- ond half Jim Nemec scored, then Linsly scored. Our last T.D. was made by our co-captain-tackle Steve Foreman, who intercepted a Linsly pass and ran 35 yards for a T.D. Sickles made 3 extra points. Bellaire 20-Youngstown 35 Although the score was tied 14-14 at the half Bellaire soon fell behind. T.D.'s in the first half were made by jack McKeever and Cline Siegen- thaler, Sickles made the extra points. Our third T.D. was made in the last few seconds of the game by john Piehowicz on a pass from Ronnie Hill. Bellaire 0-New Philadelphia 13 Bellaire put up a good fight but two long scoring drives, one in the second quarter and another in the 4th gave the Quakers a 13-0 victory. Bellaire 0-Ironton 38 Injuries and cold weather hindered Bellaire greatly as we went down to a 38-0 defeat, Bellaire 6-Wheeling 6 Everyone on the Bellaire team proved him- self a star as we battled Wheeling to a 6-6 draw. Wheeling scored in the 3rd quarter and Foreman blocked their kick for an extra point. Bill Bos- tancic made our T.D. in the 4th quarter. There was great teamwork and no one boy stood out as each did his work equally well. Bellaire 0--Ferry 7 Eleven seniors, jim Tekely, Chuck Piatt, Cline Siegenthaler, Tom Owens, Bill Thomas, Charlie Robinson, Bob Munjas, Fritz Long, lim Robson, Russ Vasey, and Steve Foreman played their last game. It was a hard fought game and a hard one to lose. Ferry scored in the last three minutes of the game. W. T. XVQHNIEN UF THE AHXJSE, Bellllirlt, flllill 81 A Brief History of the Class of 1952 As we finish our senior year, we are looking forward, with serious faces, to the future but with a glance over our shoulders at the fun, frolic, and hard work that we have had in the past four years. Four years ago, a group of lively freshmen entered the doors of B.H.S, searching for new experiences. The biggest event of the year was our class chapel but time passes ever so quickly and we find ourselves taking another step forward. As Sophomores, we had our first class dance and class elections. The vote-getters were Charles Piatt, President, William Thomas, Vice President, and Steve Foreman, Secretary-Treasurer. When we became Juniors, we still had the pep with which we entered high school. Class officers were Steve Foreman, james Tekely, and Nancy jo McFall. That year was fun but it was soon over. Now we are seniors and we are wearing our class rings. Our officers are Steve Foreman, james Tekely, and Bill Thomas. We are looking forward to the prom, class play, Baccalaureate, Sen- ior Banquet, and Commencement. These are wonderful memories but we have not finished, we have just begun. Motto Not finished, just begun. Flower American Beauty Rose Colors Red and VVhite GEORGE R. TAYLOR CO., VVheeling, W.
