GIRL MEETS GIRL Many lifelong friendships formed in good old B. H. S. were developed through Girl Reserves. This social and religious organization, a branch of the YWCA, is the largest club in high school. Meeting in a body every two weeks, girls of all classes mingle and enter into the fun of dances, parties, hikes and teas, however, valuable instruction and sage advice are offered to the members. Girl Reserves learn how to live Christian lives and how to develop the best in each and every one. The theme of the Girl Reserves this year was A Girl Reserve Views the American Way . These patriotic programs served to impress on the students the worth and advantages of the democratic way of life. BOY A MEETS BOY The Hi-Y enjoyed one of the most successful years in its history, using as their slogan Being a Better Citizen . For the recreation the club made use of the gymnasium, had their own basketball team, and really had a good time making use of the ties with the YMCA in Wlmeeling. This year the club donated money to the shoe fund and bought the Public Address System for the auditorium. Many of the friendships made in Hi-Y are solid as the Rock of Gibralter. - LS

BELJUAN STAFF Wlien you get right down to it, the Beljuan is simply a scrap-book, a complete record of the four years the class of Lil spent at Bellaire High School. There are the teachers that strived so hard to inject a little knowledge. Therearc our teams, our shows, our activities, and above all, there is our class! Here, in one small volume, are multitudes of memories which will grow dearer as the years march by. The venerable editors of our annual, Virginia Ault and Maxyne Spring, did a man's job in turning out this book. Dom DePaolo and Fred Belt submerged with work-and paste mounted pictures far into the night. The business staff worried about the ever-pressing problem of the conditions of the treasury. A few gray hairs here and there were obtained as they succeeded in securing advertising, keeping accounts, and most important of all collecting. But no annual can be complete without typists and what printer can do without a proof reader? The minimum of errors found herein are due to the diligent work of the typists and proof readers and the uniqueness of the layout was accomplished by the art editors. . ' f For all their hard work, the members of the Beljuan Staff ask for but one reward. That reward is to know that they have helped create an annual of permanent value, and annual that will be cherished by the class of 1941.
