K This year we have chosen music as our theme and have attempted to follow it the whole wav through our book. Wie have chosen music because of the innumerable things which it represents. It is life with the happiness and sorrows, hopes and disappointments, and all our other problems. It is death and the profound grief that goes with it. It is comfort and satisfaction to those who are ill. lt is rest to the weary and peace to the restless. b'n'fz21xff of Ihr brzzzrfv, tfl'T'IIfi0l1, and j1z.s'j21'm!i011 fuhifb if iuzjmzffx, if szzffyfiefs our - izmmsf !Z16'.Vil'l'.Y aim' 6'l'f7l'llY.Yl'k 0717 lllflllj' ZZAUIIKQA fx amz' hojrffx. , ,gf 5 -if , f 'wx' X f 42 A M Q if f f xx f ff' fi? if XX IV M111 211 grvzzl lzzwz' of Mffjv, lllllfjf' f'llL'I?llI'fI4Q6'S 715 mmf fj4Qhfl'11,V Ulllf TUIl'1' Mrozzgfz mix- Z!ll1l,l'I'.YZ'fl1lIZ,j11K,1, .X' and bzl1'f1'xh ffm. 1 4 ' ASW . Hamilton, an alumnus of Bell and a graduate of St. Vincent College. The Lions this year as in previous years operated from a T formation. Sparked by their brilli- ant captain, Kenny Harris, the Lions' swept through an eight game schedule and came out with a rec- ord of four wins, two loses, and two ties. Harris' outstanding running, kicking, and passing ability made the Lions a constant threat throughout the season. .- 67 .. FEUDIN' FUSSIN' The team got off to a bad start by losing a heart breaking 6-0 decision to the Blue and VVhite eleven from Ligonier. The only touchdown of the game came in the last few minutes of play, when Ligonier scored on a pass. The following game against Derry Boro, proved to be a battle between the 30 yard lines and ended in a 0-0 tie. The Lions clashed with the Crimson Tide of Washington Township under the lights of Davis Field and emerged with a 12-7 victory. Kenny Harris' terrific plung- ing and broken field running set up both of Bell's touchdowns. He scored both touchdowns on short plunges from the two and three yard lines respectively. The Bell Lions then clashed with the Blue and Gold from Plum in a 6-0 victory. It was a hard game with both teams fighting on the 50 yard line. Plum was within our 20 yard line only to find that the Lionls line would not give. Late in the third quarter, Kenny Harris threw a long pass to our end, Junior Pearson, to score the only touchdown of the game. 3+-'53, ,,,w4t,,yg4xl-sz Ak., 4 ' AND A FIGHTIN' Following Plum in a victory of 13-0, the Bell Township Lions clawed their way over the mighty eleven of Youngwood. Harris and Yalore carried the pigskin for the touchdown with Shoupe kicking the extra point. Saltsburgs eleven tried in vain. to stop the mighty eleven of Hell, as they scored touchdown after touchdown to a final score of 27-0. This was the Lions fourth victory in a row. The Bell Lions had the biggest upset of the year when they clashed with the Indians of Avonmore. XVhat we thought would be an easy victory. ended in a scoreless tie. Both teams Came close to scoring but were unable to make that final plunge. The Bell Lions then traveled to Penn Townsliip to the biggest defeat of the year. It was the toughest game of the season ending 20-7 in favor of Penn Township. Harris ran over the only touchdown by cutting off tackle for 15 yards. Two of the Lion's touchdowns were called back by the offieialsygiving Penn 'l'ownship the advantage. ? Hamilton, the girls' basketball team had a very vic- torious season, losing but two games, one of which was not a league game. The toughest and most thrilling game of the season was that with Saltsburg, who is one of our closest rivals. The score was close throughout the entire game which ended with Saltsburg leading by one point. The other defeat was given to the Bell Sextette by the Alumni. The team will lose six girls this year-Dorothy Olah and Dolores Keller, who are forwards and Doris Flick, Gloria VVolfe, Barbara Markuzic, and Bertha Kirinic, who play the positions of guards. l l I L r l l L l i HAND IN HAND: DOWN THE FLOOR X X This year, under the supervision of our new coach, George T. Hamilton, the Lion Quintet started their basketball season by losing a non-league game to Kiski Prep. The Lions racked up two consecutive victories over Armagh by the scores of 42-21 and 38-21. Franzi led the Lions in the first game by scoring 14 points. The second was headed by Dominick Peduzzi with 12 points. TOGETHER: WE PLAY W'e tasted defeat for the second time this year at the hands of the alumni, Elders Ridge gave the roaring five of Bell a little trouble, but they still came V through with their third victory. On january 6, the first league game was played with Trafford, who surprised the Bell five by out playing them throughout the game. The second game, which was with Saltsburg, was a victory for the Lions. Following this, Bell had three easy victories over Avonmore, Export, and VVash- ington Twp. Franklin Twp, upset the Bell five on the Franklin court by a score of 36-30. The Lions avenged an early season defeat by trouncing Kiski with a score of 28-10. A long trip to Trafford saw Bell defeated by the score of 31-29. Losing this game dimmed Bell's chance for first place. Two easy victories passed by defeating Saltsburg and XVashington Tw,p,fboth for the second time. Export gave Bell its surprise of the year by trouncing a highly favored Bell quintet with the score of 50-37. Sealed: Radebach, Stauffer, Colledge, Stemmler, Franzi, Karaffa, Peduzzi, Sparber.
