Bell's B cage crew ended fhe I947-'48 season by fying for second place wifh fhe Garfield Bullpups. The Eaglefs had exacfly fhe same record as fhe varsify, winning six and losing four. Also following in fhe foofsfeps of fhe A's, fhe iunior cagers played in fhe cify fournamenf and were knock ed off in fhe firsf game by fhe Jefferson Democrafs, 42-26. The B's had an excellenf ball club af fimes, and sparked by Leo Alarid and John Murphy, high scoring forwards, ran up some fairly large scores. Dean Fairbanks af fhe cenfer posf was always a fop defender and an offensive fhreaf. In Mickey Doofoff and Dallas Burneff fhe B's had good defensive guards, along wifh plenfy of offensive punch. Doofoff and Burneff were elecfed co-capfains af fhe end of fhe season. Capable reserves on fhe B squad included Perry Nease, Don Nelson, Bob Bowman, Mike Rogoff, Wallace Coah- ran, and Dick Johnson. Turning in fhe besf record of fhe I947-'48 Bell baskefball feams, fhe C feam placed second in fhe Easfern loop. Under fhe capable coaching of Coach Milfon Nash, fhe Eaglefs whipped up a sfrong feam ouf of whaf seemed fo be a very inexperienced squad. They won 7 ouf of I0 games and pulled some of fhe mosf sfarfling upsefs of fhe recenf season. High scorer for fhe C's was Marvin Tweedy, who was considered by Coach Nash as one of oufsfanding players in fhe league. The firsf feam consisfed of Bob Pierce, Ken Compfon, Robef Gewecke, Don Hanson, and Marvin Tweedy. Nof fo be oufdone by fheir bigger brofhers, fhe Bell D feam also placed second in fhe Easfern League. The D's won 7 and losf 3 games.
