PHI ALPHA THETA Founded in 1964 on the campus of Belhaven College was Phi Alpha Theta, national honorary history fraternity. Those students tapped for membership were Marty Richie, Hoyt Tillman, Charles Risher, and Dan Morse. The faculty advisor is Dr. julia Ivanoff. 130

Composed of home economic students, the Home Economics Club plans activities within academic, social, and cultural areas. The club has formulated its activities to encourage the development of homemaking interests and related skills, and to extend practical classroom instruction by means of informal processes. E TA I GMA PHI Delta Epsilon Chapter of Eta Sigma Phi was installed at Belhaven on May 6, 1963. A Classical Club, Phi Sigma, founded in February, 1961, was the organization from which Delta Epsilon Chapter was formed. Students maintaining a B average in the studies of Latin and Greek are eligible for membership in the-honorary fraternity. Meeting once a month, this organization promotes interest in the study of the classics. 131
