Cary art club. . .furthers appreciation Cary Art Club is one-of Belhaven's oldest organizations, as it dates back to the l920's, when it was founded by the former art in- structor, Bessie Cary Lemly, after whom the club is named. The Cary Art Club seeks to foster the appreciation of art and to make its members aware of art in daily life. The club's ofhcers are: Harold Halstead, president, Sara Hutto, vice-president, Renee jay, Secretary and Kay Kearney, treasurer. . .aft Kappa Pi, an honorary art fraternity, estab- lished the Delta Nu Chapter at Belhaven in 1964. Omicron Delta is a men's honor- ary leadership society organized in 1962. It recognizes six major phases of college life: scholarship, athletics, student government, social and religious affairs, publications, and the arts. One of its primary ob- jectives is eventual membership in the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society for Col- lege Men. CD . .honorary history Founded this year on the campus ofBel- haven College was Phi Alpha Theta, national honorary history fraternity. Those students tapped for membership were Lucy Castleman, jane Day, Dan Morse, Langston Haygood, Randall Yelverton, Beth Brannon, and Robert Hann. The faculty advisors, and members of the fraternity are Dr. julia Ivanoff and Prof. Lamar Neal. . .classical languages Eta Sigma Phi is a national honorary fraternity for students of Latin and Greek. The Delta Epsilon chapter was founded at Belhaven College on May 6, 1963, forming from a Classical Club, Phi Sigma, founded in February, 1961. Students maintaining a B average in the studies of these languages are eli- gible for membership. Meeting once a month, this organization promotes interest in the study of the classics. junior john Vance is the group's president. 125
