Presi- dent Cleland assumed leadership of Belhaven in july l96l, and within four years has brought Bel- haven forward in a program of expansion. Emphasizing excellence, the major goals have been: increased faculty, enriched curriculum, enlarged student body, and expanded physical facilities. , While the 'Board of Trustees and President Cleland have plans for continued expansion it is their hope that Belhaven will retain its excellence and personal friendlinessng this attitude is best achieved in a college where close faculty-student relationships are possible. The basketball team, with a record of 12 wins and 12 losses has shown the pursuit of excellence so important to Belhaven. Athletic Director and baseball coach jim McLeod coached the Belhaven baseball team to a winning season last year with a record of 9 wins and 8 losses. The tennis team, still in its growing stage, is looking forward to a winning season. B.C.A. sponsors various religious services, in- cluding chapel services, noon meditations, class devotions, and vespers.
