HALL ... a good friend. . . sadly missed happily remembered WHAT IS A FRIEND? ... a friend is someone who knows your faults and likes you anyway. We the Class of 1983 would like to dedicate our senior yearbook to a great teacher and good friend, Mr. Harvey Butler. I- As graduating seniors, you should be proud of reaching this goal. Your future is in your hands, and you will ac- complish what you have a desire to work for. You, no doubt, have had visions of your future and have imagined what you will be doing in that future. Keep in mind that where you find yourself will be a result of a developmental process influenced by your learning and experiences. Your education does not stop here; it is only beginning in earnest. Don 'I doubt your adequacies or how you fit in or your ability to meet the challenge of life. Remember that you must be flexible and willing to adapt to change; your success will be directly pro- portional to your drive and determination. Your right to be here is clearly stated by Max Ehrmann: You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. ” Keep this in mind as you go along, but remember that where you take yourself depends on you and your efforts. Robert Bouldin Superintendent TO THE CLASS OF 198) I feel that the Class of 1985 and I have something in common. In four months, you will be starting a new adventure in your lives and in one month, I will be do- ing the same when I start a new career at Wells vtlle. We both have been at Belfast for about the same period of time; you have been in school for thirteen years and I have been here for eleven years. As I reflect back on those years, I know I have grown a great deal and so has the Class of 1985. It is hard to believe that nine years ago, many of the present Seniors were in my fourth grade classroom working successfully and sometimes unsuccessfully at a business in Mini Society. I know that experience and other experiences throughout your years at Belfast, you have learned through trial and error what has to be done in order to be successful. So when you leave Belfast Central School, remember that there were times when you were unsuccessful, but because of the knowledge you gained, you were able to profit from these experiences and become more successful. That is what learning is about and how life is. K. David Porter Principal Sdctcatlcm B. Foley, P. Guilford B. Backer, S. Whalen, D. Grastorf D. Teplesky, R Hull, Jr. 4 Dist. Treas. What we needed were friends, that was easy to see. We began our new friendships, very eager but scared. We discussed all our dreams, it was failure we feared. Our friends are there to help us, as we journey on our way. After we have graduated, we hope to see them again some day. But if we never do, the fond memories will stay. We 'll look back at Belfast, and remember . . . the good old days ”! Roberta Rice 18 Photo by: Bemadine Green Row 1 — M. Hillabush. T. Barber, L. Hosmer, M. Hull. Row 2 — J. Warner. N. Curcio. K.
