To the Students of Belfast Central School and the Graduating Class of 1982: The process of education touches our lives and ef- fectively molds us into what we choose to be and do. The time spent in a formal education setting is short in comparison to your life span. The informal education you receive is important to your total understanding and reinforces your formal learning. The challenge of the 1980's and the end of the 20th century is outlined to us in what we are living today. You are facing a very crucial stage in the history of our nation and most certainly in your lives. The demands placed on your minds to digest and sort out informa- tion is far more comprehensive than was that of your parents. The tools of modern society are here and we are on the threshold of learning to use them. The pro- gress that will be made by the human race using our new technology is incomprehensible at the moment, but far exceeds our current expectations. You are fac- ing a very exciting time in your lives that can only be compared with your grandparents who saw our travel techniques progress from the horse and buggy to the automobile, to the airplane, to the space ship. Become part of this exciting change. Learn the tools of modern development and how to use them. Robert Bouldin Superintendent To The Class of 1982: One of my favorite blessings that I refer to many times each year, goes like this: May there always be work for your hands to do May your purse always hold a coin or two May the sun always shine on your windowpane May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain May the hand of a friend always be near you May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you As you strive towards your goals in life, I wish each of you these blessings. K. David Porter Principal 2
