The scintillating-looking class above entered their Freshman year feeling very chipper and ready to brave new adventures and any obstacles which might arise We all enjoyed the new freedom and independence, which seemed part of high school life For us it was not only the beginning of four years of further education, but also of many social school activities. Our first year was highlighted by a truck ride to Fillmore to a movie and a picnic at Rushford Lake We can all remember pushing our bikes up the hills and the sun burns we received on the latter Jaunt , After one year of high school, we looked forward eagerly to becoming Sophomores. We became disillusioned early for we dis- covered that we could have only two parties a year This was quite a change from the previous year's parties—once a month! As Sophomores, we held our first money-making project, a round- and-square dance with music by Martin's Mountaineers. After con- siderable discussion, we decided on our class rings, which as Juniors we would proudly commence wearing. Early in our third year, we started thinking seriously of ways to make money to finance our Senior trip to Washington. This included selling candy, cards, and stationery and sponsoring dances. After five weeks of strenuous (?) and intense (?) practice, we presented our play, Don't Blame Me . In June we were hosts at the annual Junior-Senior Banquet, In the wild scramble to make corsages for our guests we almost missed the Banquet, Our long-awaited ambition was finally reached— Seniors at last. With the returns from our concession at the County fair; the Senior Play, One For the Money ; together with prior sources of income, we reached our goal of over a thousand dollars (the greatest amount ever collected by a Belfast class). Our success has been due largely to the untiring assistance of our advisors, Mrs. Vivian Cornett and Mr. Richard Hale. On the nineteenth of April we embarked for our Nation's Capital, Washington, D. C., where we found the Continental Hotel expecting our arrival; and the ever-prominent places of historical and present-day significance waiting to guide us through their famous halls. All of this—plus the other pleasures derived from our trip—produced a wish that we might go again. We must admit that the time has passed too quickly—often the feeling of so many graduates. As we leave dear old B. C, 3., we carry with us nothing but happy memories of the past and a pleasant anticipation of the future.
