From Our Files EAGER FROSH ENTER BELCHER TOWN HIGH SCHOOL SEPTEMBER 1954 Merely cub reporters we freshmen were determined to accomplish much 1n our class We held our first class meeting and elected the following class officers President Eleanor MCGIHUIS Vice President Joan Goodrow Secretary Carolyn Evanson Treasurer Peter Dearness Class Reporter Maxine Carmody Class Adviser Mrs I-lomacki We also decided on twenty cents per month for our dues The representative for Student Council was Peter Dearness OCTOBER We really became a part of the high school with our first public venture our Hobby Show Under Judy Walker s cl-a rmansh1p it was a great success NOVEMBER We freshmen were anx1ous to participate 1 many school act1v1t1es As basketball season approached members of our class tried out for the cheering and basketball squads Eleanor MCG1HH1S and Judy Walker became cheerleaders and Ray Rose Herby Barrett and Art Frost made the basketball squad JANUARY 1955 We met again to elect committes for the Valentine Dance sponsored every year by the fresh men Since this was our first social affair we wanted to make the dance a success The follow mg committees were chosen General Chairman Judy Walker Orchestra Committee Margaret Wegiel Tacket Committee Carolyn Evanson JUNE W1th suxnmer here we looked forward to an enjoyable vacation CONFIDENT SOPHOMORES GET IN SWING OF THINGS SEPTEMBER 1955 Ready and more confident as sophomores we immediately started the ball roll1ng by call President Eleanor McG1nn1s Secretary Carolyn Evanson Treasurer Maxine Carrnody Class Reporter Earlene Martin Class Adviser Mrs Tague Student Council Representative Peter Dearness OCTOBER We held a meeting to elect a committee for our comic entry in the parade The comm1ttee consisted of Eleanor MCGIHHIS Art Frost and Herbert Barrett Later in the month we held a Halloween Dance DECEMBER At the annual Christmas Party we furmshed an entertainmg musical program MARCH With the v1s1t of the World History Class to the Worcester Pressed Steel Company the out Slde events of our sophomore year came to a close JUNIORS PREPARE FOR A BUSY YEAR SEPTEMBER 1956 Looking forward to a busy year the Juniors again elected officers President Joan Goodrow V1ce President Mary Jane Papp Secretary Carolyn Evanson Treasurer Peter Dearness Class Reporter Earlene Mart1n Class Adv1ser Mrs Pero Student Council Representatives Peter Dearness, Earlene Martm and Margaret Wegiel OCTOBER On Fair Day the Juniors had a most successful food stand with Judy Walker acting as cha1rman Our entry in the parade earned us first prize DECEMBER 'There s no business like show busmess Our Ed Sullivan Show at the Chr1stmas Party brought down the house Ed lPete Dearnessj had a rare collection of talent' including the famous E1V1S Presley CRay Rosel and even more famous Liberace lPeggy Weglel l APRIL We Juniors held our first paper drive with Mary Jane Papp and Eleanor MCG1nn1S in charge eryone worked like mad ' C , . . . .
