BELCHER HIGH SCHOOL foreword Zhe Dedication We dedicate the 1955 EAGLE to the Student Body. The dedication is simple but it is as it should be for you - the students - are the contents of this book. Your classes, activities, sports and favorites, fill the pages and give the EAGLE its purpose. Without you the pages would be blank for you are the life of the school and to you we dedicate this treasure of your youth. The Staff Zhe Principal’s Message Dear Students, It has been seven years now, of close association and friendship. There have been situations that were both serious and humorous that we have shared together. We have had a lot of just plain good times together. Your school spirit, enthusiasm, and pride have given our school that atmosphere that is impossible to develop without the uniformity in close cooperation and support among each of you individually and in groups. This attitude has contributed very much to the success of our school. Personally, I am very proud. As long as our aims and objectives are kept before us, our efforts will continue to be even stronger. Our inauguration of school-wide devotionals and programs of inspiration through the work of the Student Council, class groups, clubs, and organizations has assisted in giving to you a moral foundation that cannot be denied. Best wishes to each and every one of you and may your efforts be ceaseless towards that of living your life in the only way - The Christian Way. Yours truly. faculty POWELL A. LAYTON Principal B. May she use them to receive compliments. Patsy D. to Tanne - her friendliness and charm. May she use it to win as many friends as she has; also her height. May Tanne use it to squirm out of tight places. Floyd to Murlin - his basketball suit and a package of filtered L and M's so he will have enough wind to play ball. Joe to Johnny - his ability to keep up with text books and pencils and his ability to study and remember the lesson when he's finished. Kendall to Bobby - his great voice and his love for popular music. Anna Beth to Janice - her sweet singing voice and her ability to hold one of the senior boys from the class of '54. Senior girls to Mary Elizabeth - their ability to make rolls and the job of reading all our books we have loved so well. Danny to David - a carton of Camels and a cigarette lighter. May he put them to the best use. Danny also leaves David some of the prestige which he has had at B. H. S. James to Howard - his whiskers. James hopes that Howard doesn't have as much trouble with them as he has had. Donnie to Jimmie - his good looks and his ability with the girls, especially Mary Ann Droke. Wilna to Peggy Holcomb - her easy going manner and temper. May Peggy use these to always obtain a healthy atmosphere. Patsy V. to Ann - her ability to drive her car and her job as pianist of B.H.S. Josle Helen to Shirley - her poor attendance record in hopes that Shirley will make up for Josle's absences. She also wills Shirley her special place on the front row at every ball game. Senior Boys to Calvin - their ability to play hookey from school and get by with it. Seniors of '55 to the Seniors of '56 - our wonderful school days in B.H.S. May each of you enjoy them and have as much fun as we did. Laron Bounds--We find Laron's residence now in Kellyville. On their ranch she has develop- ed many new talents. We see her every evening, while riding herd, playing her guitar and singing, Home On the Range 2. Floyd Crain—Little did we think we would ever find Floyd in the pulpit of the Methodist Church to which he contributed so much of his life savings. He attributes his strong constitution to his habit of drinking fruit juice which he acquired in his Senior year at Belcher. 3. Patsy Nell Denmon--Patsy is a successful business woman, for she now owns the Tall Tessie Toggery, a shop catering to extra tall girls and in her spare time she drives the Fiery Ford in the show of all shows, Jimmy Lynch and his Daredevils. 4. Joe Holeman—Joe has stayed close to his home town and is now the Mayor of Gilliam and resides there with his family who have great socials every night; they do the two-step so well 11 5. Kendall Kelly--Wlth his great musical talent, Kendall has worked his way up the ladder, and we now find him at the top playing first guitar in the New York Philharmonic Symphony. He even bought some elevated shoes and finally got Laron. Now we know why his dog stayed at Laron's house all those years. 6. Ann Beth Lankford--In 1965 we find Anna Beth still taking care of Jimmy. Jimmy Armstrong? Could be! She writes a column in a leading newspaper entitled, First Love Can Last! 7. Danny Logan—When Danny has reached the ripe age of 35, he is the proud father of quintu- plet sons who compose the varsity squad of the Belcher Eagles. They owe their success to their inherited ability and driving-by-whip persistance of their father. Danny is also considered King of the Old Fashioned Dance, the Bop!! 8. James Merrill—Poor James, he never heeded our advice and we now find him many years later with only a nub for a thumb, but even so, he manages to play the bass very well with only four fingers. 9. Donnie Nichols—Donnie is happy now that he has finally won his desire in life, the irrisista- ble blonde bombshell. Although he is now 50, he still has that infectious giggle and attractive blush. 10. Josie Pizzolata—We see that Josie has finally made up her mind and chosen the Mayor of a major city as her one and only, but we are sure you've seen her on TV and in all magazines featured as the Ipana Girl. 11. Wilna Preston—Wllna is perhaps the most famous of all for she is the famed bare-back rider in the Ringling Brothers Circus who performs dangerous feats Under the Big Top. Between acts she assists her husband, the magician in his world famous act. He saws her not in two pieces, but in four. 12. Patsy Volentine—Patsy realized her dream and has become an outstanding model, but due to the fact that she ate too much one summer, she now models Size 40. Also, she has the cutest little redheaded, bow-legged, hot-tempered boy! fl'iHtk Qrade Secretary-----------------SANDRA CONNELL Vice President-------- - - JOHN HAWKINS President-------------------BEVERLY DAVIS JIMMIE BAILEY BETTY BOUNDS SANDRA CONNELL NELDA CUMMINGS BEVERLY DAVIS PEGGY DENMON Ninth Qrade ANN DICKSON JOHN HAWKINS JOHN LOGAN DIANA MEARES JAMES PERDUE BERNICE PROCELLA GERTRUDE REEVES TRESSA RENEAU ARLIE SIBERT OUEDA TERRY GERALD WHATLEY HELEN WILKINSON 3” a r C- S 9 Donnie I Eighth Qrade President - - - -------TOMMY STINSTON Vice President-------DONALD HEMPERLEY Sponsor........................AMY GLEASON Secretary................YVONNE HARKNESS Treasurer...................CLARENCE REECE WALTER CLARK HARRIS COOPER JESSIE COOPER YVONNE HARKNESS Eighth LESSIE LEE HAYGOOD DONALD HEMPERLEY MICKEY LANKFORD CALVIN LYNN SAMMY MITCHELL JOE WILLIE PERDUE EDWARD PRICE CLARENCE REECE CAROLYN SELF TOMMY STINSON Seventh Qrade Sponsor..................
