Commerce - The spirit of cooperating in the business world is given in the Commerce Department. There' are a variety of skills which may be obtained through the study of various phases of'commerce. Among them are the follow- ing: typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, busi- ness arithmetic, and business law. The C. O. E. students go to school half a day and work in downtown offices as clerical workers in the afternoon. D. E. students profit from the business world through experience in various retail jobs with the help and guid- ance of their employers and teachers. The girls' Physical Education Depart- ment provides various activities in which the girls may participate. Through these activities, which include volleyball, musical exercise, square danc- ing, marching, softball, and other gymnastic pro- grams, students gain athletic ability and poise and learn good control of their physical movements. lt helps to keep high-school girls physically fit for to- day's fast-moving world.
