Shall we call these unknown creatures earthlings.', For we do not know what they are, but we know from where they come . . . these creatures come from a planet of two-hundred and sixty-seven occupants, known as B.H.S. During our stay on this earthling planet, we found out a lot of things about these creatures, such as their activities, their pastimes, their abilities, and their life in general. We also found out about their friendliness and hospitality. S0 as the earthlings from B.H.S. said, Come, Look and learn about . . . 'Our World'. Table of Contents Our World 2-3 . . . It is made of classes and learningg it is made of new subjects such as Business Law. This class deals with the study of law. They act out mock trials and learn to cope with various legal situations. Another new subject is C.V.E.T., which stands for Coordinated Vocational Educational Training. Learning by doing, they work for the school and their community. .xw,,ff 4 Opp. upper right: Mr. jerry Purvine, of Oklahoma State Tech, shows the Drafting class how to operate the computer-aided draftin equipment. 'Kiran hr ',, i -...X me-, ,W-f N 39 if P-- -' 5 We found these earthlings rushing in to consume lunch which consisted ofa variety of different things they call food, like Italian beef patties, wiener winks, Spanish meat loaf, and pizza burger. Then as they finished, the earthlings would gather around in groups kind of like constellations in space. These groups ofearthlings have different places where they like to gather. Some go outside and sit on machines they call automobilesg others stay in the lunchroom at the tables and communicate, while others go into the gym and play a very unorganized game called basketball. 6 Constellations Below: When it's warm and sunn outside many people go out into the parkin lot. At approximately fifteen hundred hours a strange sound echoes through the building, and the still silence in the hall is broken by the faint rustling from within the rooms. From the rooms emerge 267 talking, laughing DEMONS. The front doors are flung open and waiting for the mob are twelve large yellow vehicles called buses, and lots of multicolored smaller crafts called cars. As we follow these strange beings they travel forth to new and different places. Some go to quench their thirsts at places called drive-insf' others return to a place called home. From our year of observing these DEMONS we have witnessed many things that have affected their lives. This year a powerful influencial male Earthling called the Pope', died, and as we watched many of these Demons', shed water from their eyes. Less than thirty-six days later the new Pope died and once again these earthlings mourned. There was another happening which seemed important to these creatures, it was called an election. After all the votes were counted it was announced that David Boren would be their new Senator, and George Nigh would be their new Governor. we-ig Q Opposite top has rung. Opp. Lower Left: Pe club members Deborah Nichols and Lajuan Doakes cfecorate the hall to enliven everyonels spirit before the Warner football game. Opp. Right: Practicing for football and concert season is baritone player, Brenda Smith. .-ni In this extraordinary place where I have landed, the creatures all enjoy a thing they call uhomecomingf, This yearis festivity was very pleasant. Usually the Wind is blowing furiously or it's raining cats and dogs, but this year it was perfect. The twirlers, cheerleaders, pep club and drill team formed a Walkway to honor all the royalty as the band played Traces.,, Deb Strain was crowned in front ofa crowd of 1500g and although the football team didn't win the game, they were within ten yards of making the winning touchdown. 11 BHS creatures are very competitive. They play a game that they call football on a dustbowl-like field that is known as the Pit. These creatures are known for having a lot of pride and work hard for this gameg they do not suffer defeat easily. There are also other creatures that are as much a part of the game as .the players. They yell and scream for their team and are always 100'Z1 behind them. They are called fans, and that is a good name p because they can really stir the air. 12 NIGHT STALKER - 4 . La. Two of the larger groups are the Future Farmers of America, and the Future Homemakers of America. The members of these groups are very talented creatures. In the F.F.A. the members attend fairs, participate in speech and judging contests, and learn to cut and weld in their shop. The F.H.A. members learn about life after marriage, attend rallies, and raise money for worthy causes. To get an F.arthlings,' view we asked a few, what does F.F.A. or F.H.A. mean to You. Brett Morris -F.F.A. gives me a chance to go all over the state and the country and participate in contests and events that will bring recognition to me, and our chapter. The F.F.A. is one of the best parts of my life. Sharon Roberts -To me the F.H.A. is a way of broading my learning. Probably the most important thing is that every year I learn something new about myself I like the fact that I can enjoy myself while I learn. As school was let out, some kids took advantage of the Weather sliding on sleds and building Snowmen. Even though the weather was bad, the County Tournament was held and the girls basketball team placed sec- ond. The boys basketball team has done well also, placing third in the Bristow Tournament. UNBELIEVABLE FASHIO Have you ever been walking down the halls and felt as if you were on a rabbit farm? With the rising population of rabbit coats here at B.H.S., it's not impossible. It seems as if almost everyone has a rabbit coat. The fashions this year range from very high heeled dress shoes for girls to shorter hair for boys. Down filled vests are also very stylish for both boys and girls. Another big eye catcher is straight-leg jeans with the cuffs rolled up. It is unbelievable what some girls can fit in those small disco pursesg the only thing is, it takes forever to get everything in them or anything out of them. R . Q As night slowly falls on the small town of Beggs the streets suddenly come alive. At approximately 7 o'clock on any given Friday or Saturday the first sign oflife appears on Main Street -- one lone car. As time rolls by the car is joined by first one and then another car. It's Friday night and the Fuzzball place is packed with people. A string of cars join in the now famous ritual of the UH turn on each end of Main Street. The small park is buzzing as a group of young people try to get a couple of teams together for a game ofbasketball. These are only a few ways the B.H.S. students have found to forget about the daily routine. Okmulgee is becoming more and more attractive to the B.H.S. student. The theatre is becoming a hot spot as the production companies seem to be producing more and better films, such as Grease, Animal House, and even Superman the Movie. The movie price has now soared to 3.00 dollars in Okmulgee, but that is still 502 to 81.00 cheaper than Tulsa. The B.H.S. student is really quite fortunate. Most week nights are filled with either a Football, Basketball, or Baseball game, depending on the season, or some Church activity. But no matter what the season, most students are able to find some kind of entertainment. TWILIGHT ZONE Opp. Upper Right: C.V.E.T. The Demonites are your passport to adventure, and all it takes to get in on some of this adventure is to use one of your five senses - seeing. For example, seeing how many times your picture is in the yearbook and seeing what advice Anonymous Gabby has to give. In an attempt to bring you number onev publications and to get some up-to-the-minutei' ideas, Newspaper Editor Cindy Treat attended the journalism workshop at Oklahoma State University this summer, While Mrs. Keys accompanied Yearbook Editor Renee Creason, Glenna Cypert, and Shari Swearingen to a yearbook Workshop at East Central University in Ada. One new idea was to let the students select the name ofthe newspaperg the name they selected was the Burning Demonite. A nice addition to the Yearbook was the original cover designed by Kellie McDaris. After all the hard work is completed, it really makes the journalism staffs feel good when someone says how much they enjoyed it. www 79 A school,s Worth', is often measured by the number of concerned, interested, students it has. B.H.S. is fortunate to have such a great number of enthusiastic, and devoted students. The total enrollment of the Beggs School system is now 2,647 students. The school is large enough to have modern and up-to-date equipment, yet small enough to give individual attention. Although our school is only two years old, we still have a few bugs to work out. One example is the fact that the air-conditioners sometimes refuse to work during the hot summer days but just blow their hearts out in the winter. On the other hand the heaters work just fine during the summer but occasionally balk in the winter. This years winter has been quite bad, itis already being referred to as The Blizzard of 79,'. Beggs students missed over four days this year due to the snow and ice. Superintendents Honor Roll: First Row: Jana Rouk, Tammy St. Cyr., Dana Henson, La Juan Doakes, and John Dodd.
