First Year of Class C Volleyball Under the direction of first year coach Dale Jackson, once again we continued to have another very successful season. This being the 13th year that volleyball has been played at B.H.S., we sure deny the superstition of the =13 being unlucky! We feel that our 13th season was a most memo- rable and LUCKY one at that! We finished our varsity volleyball season with 17 wins against just 3 losses. We received third place honors in our own Beemer Invitational, and once again we claimed the Logan Valley Conference Championship Title for the seventh consecutive year. Class C Districts were a whole new ball game for us. It brought us tougher competition, and a chance to work for what may have been a dream come true! We took on a tough Homer squad in the C-7 championships at Lyons, and came home victorious. The exuberant shouts and screams of the crowd that night are still ringing in our ears, and the sight of our first Class C District trophy that in itself was a dream come true!! Unfortunately, the next night we were con- fronted with a well-rounded (16-4) Elkhorn Valley club, at Wayne High School. The outcome was not what we had hoped for. The match took three sets, and we were defeated for only the third time this year. We were all looking forward for another chance to try for the state title, so when we fell just short of the state bid, we felt that the season ended much too abruptly. But looking back over the year, we learned many a thing from this year's season, and the most important being that of teamwork. We learned that working as a team, did wonders for us. And when it came down to who had the best players working together on the court, nine times out of ten, it was us. We also learned that teamwork pays off in the final out- come, and that we were what you call a volleyball team , and in the true sense of the meaning!!
