CHAIVIPS, AGAIN! For the third year in a row, the Beekmantown varsity finished at the top of the CVL football standings. But for the second year in a row, the Eagles had to share the top spot, this time with Plattsburgh High School, a team Beekmantown defeated in the season opener. Again it was St. John's that spoiled Eagle hopes of an undefeated season. After last year's heart stopping one point loss to the Irish, Beekmantown came up short again in a game that was a virtual replay of the 1975 contest. But just as they had done in 1975, the Eagles picked themselves up from their defeat, won the remainder of their games, and managed another share of the CVL crown. One of the pleasant surprises of the 1976 season was the performance of sophomore quarterback Jeff Snyder, who wasted no time filling the shoes of departed All- Star Peter Proctor. Snyder proved one of the finest performers in the league and, matched with team mates Jeff Sherman, Jim Coupal, and Rodney Gregoire, provided the Eagles with the most productive offense in the CVL. Coupled with the league's stingiest de- fense, the Eagles were tough opposition for everyone they played. ABOVE: Offensive line waits for snap from Eric Barnes.
