winter weekend' throu h the eyes of a child After years of no snow, we hnally had a winter in 1982. But a week before the Winter Weekend a short thaw and a quick freeze turned our fluffy snow into white rock and once again snow sculp- tures were scratched from the agenda. But what a weekend! A window painting contest fwon by the seniors, of coursel, a tug of war fseniors, againj, games, concessions, and lots of good food and music created a festive mood for the over four hundred students who spent a SATURDAY at school. At night, the 'punks came out from wherever punks come from to attend the biggest dance in many years and to be assaulted by the exciting sounds of the Nuclear Accidents. Five students were winners in the Voice of Democracy contest. Paul Ghenoiu's entry won hrst prize,' other winners, in order, were Mike Mousseau, Marvella Ford Sandy Gorman and Stacy Bedard In February, four Beekmantown scholars took on a tough team from Malones Franklin Academy in the Scholars for Dollars competition broadcast on WGFL1 Beekmantown led at the half and kept the contest close until the very end when a surge by FA ga ve them the victory. Still it was the best showing ever by a Beekmantown team on Scholars for Dollars. Panelists included lim luneau, Gretchen Scha we, John Jolicoeur and Beth Martin.
