11' 'El Nl' m A llll I ' F In wrestlers have disappointing record but have three section champs The 79-80 wrestling team ended Its regular season with a record of 2-6. ln their best wrestling match of the season, the Eagles shut out the MAI Mountles by a score of 61-0. This team had many outstanding individuals, Including Scott Do- mlny who took flrst in his weight class at a J.V. tournament held at MAI. In a Varsity tournament, held at NAC, Terry Drown took first place for his 215 pound weight class. Though the team's regular season record was unimpressive, the team made an outstanding showing at the sectionals. The Eagles sent three team members: Terry Drown 62153, Cralg Daniels 11263, and Todd Desrocher C1327 to the meet in Peru. All three of these outstanding wrestllng were reward- ed for their hard work and determlnatlon wlnnlng their respective weight classes. As this yearbook goes to press, the three are heading to Syracuse to represent Beekman- town in the State finals. The graduating seniors are: Terry Brown, Larry Carter, Colin Fountain, Kevin Menard, Ron Rock. and Steve Sherman, and Todd Desrocher. 71

The girls finished third in the Sectionals with Junior Tina Wood earning o trip to the State Meet on Long Island in March. The boys were led by seventh grader John Munson who averaged 175 and had the second highest average in the league. The 1979 Varslty and Junlor Varsity softball teams won some important games and had a good season last sprlng. The Varsity team's most excltlng game came agalnst MAI when the undefeated Mountles suffered a loss at the hands of the flred up Eagles. This major defeat was MAl's only loss all season. Outstanding players for Beekmantown were: Rhonda Cov- ey. Jackle Duquette, Llsa Llght, and Reglna Klpp. The .lunlor Varslty squad flnlshed Its season wlth a 7-7 record. Thls team pulled an upset vlctory over league leader NEC ln the last game of the season. In the last lnnlng, with two outs. the Eagles scored enough runs to wln the game wlth a score of 16-15 and knock NEC out of flrst place.
