After domlnatlng fall sports, Beekmantown found Itself at the bottom of the heap durlng the 1979-80 basketball season. The team flnlshed lts schedule wlth a league record of one win and fourteen losses Cand a total record of one and nlnefeenh. The team's only vlctory came at the mld-polnt of the season when the Varslty beat Northeastern Cllnton by slx points. The Indlvldual storles were more heartenlng. Senlor co- captaln Blll Leege came into hls own as the season pro- gressed, scorlng 26 and 16 polnts ln the two games agalnst P.H.S. Leege also flnlshed as one of the top ten scorers ln the Steve Myers and Dllly Leege brlng the ball down court: Randy Labarge heads for the basket and below. the team. l. - basketball: l not exactly a season to remember CVAC, averaglng 14.3 polnts a game. Senlor co-captain Jon Seabron also Improved as the season went on as he saw more and more playing tlme. Optimism runs high for next year wlth returnlng junlors Steve Myers, Glenn Rascoe, and Jeff Van Woert along wlth sophomores Todd Dupell and Randy LaDarge. Each of these players picked up valuable experience and had some out- standing indlvldual games. With a more experienced ball club we can expect a wlnnlng season next year.

jv girls tie for first in touch cvac The junlor varslty glrls' basketball team had a successful year. Though the team was somewhat inexperienced, their ability to anticipate and react brought these glrls the glory of vlctary. The team ended It's season In a tie for first place In their division. In a game wlth MAI to determine which team would go to the league championship to represent their school, the Eagles defeated MAI they went on to play Moriah ln the finals. In a hotly contested match. the Eagles had a lead going into the third period, and then with thirty seconds left in the game the score was 88-37 ln favor of Deekmantown but as the final buzzer went off, the score was 89-38, wlth Moriah on top. This was definitely one of the most exciting and well played games of the season. Sophomore Erln Casey ls a promising player for the next year, as Sophomores Darlene Barber. Chrlssy Blamey, and Jill Shelters move up to the Varslty squad. More than halfway through the regular season, the Varsity Glrl's Bas- ketball team is experiencing very trying times. This team ls young and realtlvely inexperienced having lost many outstanding players to graduation In 1979. However, what really counts thls year ls the team's great amoung of splrlt which is almost as Important as their record. And as Coach Haley puts It, the team is much better than their record shows. Team Captains are Lisa Light and Marcie Castine, the only two senlors an the squad. Hlgh scorers this year are Jackie Duquette and Karen Howell, who are both outstanding rebounders.
