How they llve. why they do what they do, how they are alike, how they are different. In a country such as the United States, where people are free to fail as well as to succeed, an under- standing of the government and the conomy, knowledge about jobs, taxes, insurance, buying goods, joining labor unions, dealing with family members and businessmen and politicians, necessary for anyone who hopes to sur- vive.
