This 1969-70 school year was a difficult year for the Beechwood School Board of Education. Because of a fast climbing en- rollment, crowded conditions werc prev- alent in the school. The Board worked hard to pass a bond issue which would provide funds for desperately needed facilities. We would like to express our appreciation to them for their efforts in getting the bond issue passed. Mr. W. R. They are general repairs and keeping the building clean and in good condition. This year Mr. Cody was aided by Mr. Ken Leeds during the day and Mt. Walter Shirley in the afternoon. Mrs. Eunice Woodard, school secretary, has many tasks to perform in a days time. Included in these are general office work and the preparing of the daily absentee list. This year Mrs; Woodard was helped by stu- dent office aides, who did the running of errands for the ofhce. Mrs. Vesta Schultz, dietician, hxes deli- cious lunches with the help of her compe- tent staff. She has been at Beechwood for twenty years making the dinners for the banquets, also. TIGERS FINIQH 9-15 To start off the New Year, the basketball team suffered three straight losses at the hands of Campbell C0,, Bellevue, and St. Henry. Against Simon Kenton, though, the Tigers got revenge for the losses. Newport and Russell C0. handed two more losses to the team, the latter being a one-point over- time loss. Then, Dixie and Lloyd fell to the Big Tigers matching on their home courts. Hard luck hit the boys and they lost four in a row to Ludlow, Highlands, Holy Cross, and a squeaker to Dayton'. The Beechies ended the regular season with victories over Simon Kenton and Boone Co. In the District Tour- nament, Holmes beat the Tigers by ten to end the 1969-70 campaign. The Tigers opened the season with wins over Ludlow and Lloyd before lqsing games to Holmes and Grant Co. In the final game before Christmas, the Beechies beat Dixie at home. During the Christ- mas holidays, the Tigers played in two tourna- ments, the Newport Invi- tational and the Ludlow Invitational. Losing three of the four contests, Beechwood lost the Ludlow Invitational for the first time in seven years.
