In every smooth functioning institution, there is someone that goes about his respective duties with efficiency and dili- gence, receiving little notice or inspiration from his asso- ciates. This particular man around Beechwood is Mr. Ralph Cody. The Class of ''55'' has often benefitted from the services of Mr. Cody; and it is their will that this, THE 1955 BEECH- WOOD, be dedicated to Mr. Ralph Cody. His constant friendship, loyalty, unselfishness, and peaceful contentment are a few of the qualities which have demanded our respect. In him we can see what true success is like, for he has botn peace of mind and a wealth of friends. Once these are had, who can ask for more? Therefore, BEECHWOOD is glad to give recognition to those of the school who have served beyond the mere act of attendance in an effort to improve BEECHWOOD as well as themselves. Besides personal satisfaction and respect of friends, the honored students are presented by the school an appropriate token of BEECHWOOD'S ap- preciation. For this occasion ''B'' Day has acquired a separate signiti- cance in the minds of the Beechwood student body. Twice we thought that we were going to carry home a winning score, but in both cases we had to share the glory and accept a tie. in our other six outings, the stories can be quickly be summed up; Ludlow, it was a nasty break when they blocked that kick; Dixie, they had a pretty fair ball club this year; Boone Co., we just couldn't seem to realize that we were supposed to play foot- ball that night; K. M. |., that foreign soil was a whole lot tough- er this year; Lloyd, if | remember correctly, ‘Mother’ always told me to watch out for ''mud-puddles; ' and Bellevue, the worse came to worse that night as the black and gold boys displayed an immense appetite for touchdowns. However, let's return to the memories of the Campbell Co. and Dayton games. These were real battles and are typical of the great game of football. Yes, football is a great game of give and take: and we were able to take something home with us after those games. We as Seniors have collected our moments of glory on the gridiron, but we hope to return always as alumni and enjoy with you your big thrills as players for Tech's teams. SCHEDULE Ludlow is Dixie 46: Camels 0; Boone Co. is Dayton”. 1S Ke Mal. 4| Lloyd =: = 3 | Bellevue 59 Beechwood Beechwood Beechwood Beechwood Beechwood Beechwood Beechwood Beechwood Oven oa Oro -O So Beechwood's 54-55 basketball season left much to be desired and satisfied few. Although neither an es- pecially small team nor one lacking in individual talent, this year's squad did not click. More often than not, the Tigers would start the game like a ball of fire and burn up the floor during the first half only to lose through an apparent lack of stamina. We hope that whatever the ill omen was will not plague the Tiger teams of the future. All the players on Tech's teams played hard and managed to emerge the victors on three occasions but combinations of bad luck and bad spirit kept them from bettering this record. 46 SCHEDULE Walton-Verona . . . .
