There is a lot to look forward to this year, but it will all be just a fond memory after Graduation Day. Dear Diary: Four years of questions, answers, read- ing, tests, and cramming in these class- rooms will be ended. Dear Diary: Fun? Yes! Our heavenly beautiful prom crowned TOMMY '48 King. The prom in our honor crowned JANIE '49 Queen. Games were more spirited with BILLIE, JOANNE, KATHY, JANIE, SUSAN, and BONNIE leading the cheers. aT WE GRADUATED Dear Diary: It's all over now. The Graduation Exercises were perfect. It is something | will cherish in my memories forever. All my friends looked so solemn and thoughtful as if they knew that this was a milestone in their lives. The parents and relatives of the graduates were present for this memorable occasion. We are proud to dedicate our annual to the people pictured on this page. It is a fine thing for us to possess such parents. Our entire school life has been col- ored by your influence and advice. Looking back over the years, we remember many instances where some suggestions, comfort, or aid have helped remove what seemed formidable obstacles. We also appreciate your interested attendance at ballgames, concerts, plays, open house, banquets, and P.T.A. We take this opportunity to express our thanks to you, DEAR PARENTS. THIERD GR 42 SECOND GRAD In a few years, in order to talk over old times with our boys, it may be necessary to make a trip out West because JACK COTTON, DAVY FALLIS, TOBY HATFIELD, DAVID HILL, BILLY RACE, PHILIP RINGO, and BILLY SOUTHGATE have desires to be ranches, cowboys, or fly their airplanes across ihe country. In future years if we should visit our girls we wonder if we will find the same existing attitudes as they now have, such as CYNTHIA BADER'S cheerfulness; LYNDA BEIL'S co-operativeness: BARBARA BICKER'S enthusiam; SALLY BOLLES' diligence; CAROL BOLLMAN'S | willingness; PATSY BRYANT'S aggressiveness; CYNTHIA CREAGHEAD'S friendliness; SUSAN EDDY'S charm; SUE FEARNAUGHT'S shyness; RUTH ANN GREEN'S neatness; HELEN and TEKLA KERLIN'S agility; KAY KORZENBORN'S ver- CAROLYN MARTING'S © alertness: KATHLEEN McKAMEY'S quietness; CHAR- LOTTE MUNGER'S helpfulness; DIANNE MUR- DOCK’S efficiency; NORMA _ SCHMIDT'S patience; JANE SCHULZE'S liveliness; EBA KAY SIEBERT’S hurriedness; CAROLINE TATE'S originality; and PATRICIA WARE'S frankness. satility; _ MED Rites cease. There is a new look in football at Beechwood. Finally after a few years of football, the Tigers were able to taste victory. This seemed to come about by the fact that the players never gave up, and that they switched from the single wing formation to the T-formation. Switching to the T gave them the chance to use their size and speed. After a slow start of losing their first four games, the Tigers were able to come back and win their last three. This year proved to be the first year that a Beechwood team had any scoring power. The record for the year is as follows: Newport . . . . . 46; Beechwood . Dite 1 4. © a . 264. Beechwood Campbell County . 13; Beechwood . Bellevue . . . . . 39; Beechwood. . . . 20 Aurora. =.) . «-« = 6;Beechwood.. .. $=38 fualow . 2... «i « $4: Beechwood... .. 18 Livy © oa 080: Beachwood or. . 2.520 We hope that in the following years that this record will be improved on until it can be im- proved no further. Viewing the record of the past year, we find that the 'Tigers'', after a mediocre season, ad- vanced farther than ever before in the tourna- ments. This is accounted for by the fact that for the first time in Beechwood history Coach McNabb had 12 to 15 boys capable of playing equally good basketball. We find that we concluded the regular play with 12 wins and II losses. Among these games was a two-day trip, during which we played Catlettsburg and Maysville, winning the former 36-35 and losing the latter 48-37. As the tournaments got under way, the team . seemed to catch a spark and played some of its best ball. We became champions of the 36th district by defeating Dixie in the finals 48-45. In Regional play, we swamped Lloyd 76-37, again downed Dixie with a 38-29 score, and, in the finals lost to Bellevue 56-49. We sincerely hope that next year's Tigers improve this record by playing in the State Tournament. Beechwood Beechwood . Beechwood . Beechwood . Beechwood . Beechwood . Beechwood . Beechwood .
