Entering our first year in high school has been a very exciting moment for all. First we held our class elections. The following were elected: presi- dent, Beverly Hamiltong vice-president, Mable Langleyg secretary, Dorothy Smeageg treasurers, Shirley Barnes and John Lewisg reporter, Jeanette Frasikg student council, Jacqueline Hooks and John Montneyg class council, Delores Eisinger, Dorothy Corwin, and Mary Jane Killiang point secretary, Sally Carley. The traditional Freshman-Sophomore Initiation was held in September with the honors going to the sophomores. As sophomores next year we are looking forward to winning the honors. The class constitution was drawn up and accepted. The first dance given by the freshman class proved to be very successful. Refreshrnents were served during intermission. Our annual class play was a success in every way. Another way in which we made money was by selling refreshments at athletic games. We wish to express our appreciation to Mrs. Mark and Mr. Maurina, our class sponsors, for helping us through our first year in high school. We hereby leave our freshman title to our successors, wishing them all the success and fun we are sure they will have. 35 I:.:.:.:,..a.a...........a.e.n,..-...-.:.:1:.:.o...-........' .......,..'..,'. , , , , , , , , . , .:.:,s.i.:.:...o-..........a...-- r-1-nm-n 'W :SHA - - FIRST ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT Geraldene Edwards Joan Parsons, Carol Werner Darla Bush Charlene Brent Georglana Oder lurk B111 Dav1s, Joan McCasl1n Shirley Hetzen Patsy Ogle Walter K1rbltz Arnold Thomas, Ed Hahn Lesl1e Brown SECOND ROW LEFT TO RIGHT Jerald WIDIE B1ll Shusser Ken Voller, Ivan Garchow Bob Dubars Paul Lawley, Donald Webster Carl Crum W1ll1am Wrlcox, B111 Grant Jerald Davidson Sally Sludmore MUIIE1 Momson, Jean Mayfield Rex M1ddled1tch Ed Rodden B111 F1nkbe1ner B1ll Harden THIRD ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT Pat Holbeck Lavena F1nk Gloria Hethorn Dora Flynn, Carol Irrsh Donna Chemma Bonnre Wmters, Mary Gunther Betty Schraeder Barbara Rehak LOIS Knolls, Freda Whooly N1na Delaney, Charles Russel J1m Murphy Bob Lang Calv1n Dav1s FOURTH ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT Leo Tobtas Grace Haas Thelma Hougland, Robert Brown Betty Parker Geannine Dmse Jim Langley Larry Thayer, Merlyn Sexton Leo Baker Dav1d Cutcher, Charles Lewthwalte Sh1rley Suchy Mary Frost Phyl11s Parnes, Nancy Bechtel Eloise Ferchette HIIHIH GRAIN FIRST ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Bob Spungs, Wllliam Culhane, Edward Mayhew, Barbara Schraeder, W1lma Frazler, Janet Horton, Karen Z1nk, Muuel Wyles, Irw1n Mayhew, Jerry Underwood, Larry Baum. Losing only Bill Barnum, Duane Brown, Ken Poma, and Bob Towns from last year's fine squad, Coach Borr has four of last year's starting team returning: High scorers, Homer McMurtry and NickManychm all-county selections last year, guards, Earl Pigeon and Chet Hopkins. Six-foot-five-inch Ralph Cross will be the other forward. Also on last year's squad were Don Rhoades, Buff Mundale, and Bill Daniels. Up from last year's reserves and pushing these boys for starting assignments are Jim Crang, John Boulton, and Alvin Hamilton. Crang and Boulton are ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS ilton, and halfback Clair Ward received Honorable Mention. Many of the boys missed first team berths by only one vote. This year's team was said by Coach Russ Reynolds to have more spirit than any Beecher football team. Bob Johnston, sophomore end, received the only major injury of the season when he suffered a broken leg midway through the sea- son. He will be one of the returninglettermen next year.
