Valedictory Faculty Members, Parents, and Friends, We stand before you tonight, realizing what our school has meant to us and what it has done for us: and as the years pass our realization of these facts will grow greater. We will always appreciate the opportunities we have had, and can never fully express our gratitude for the patient guidance given to us by our parents, mem- bers of the faculty, and our Board of Education. All of us were endowed at birth with a fpotential ability to learn. Under the guid- ance of our teachers and parents, this has been developed into the useful knowledge we have today--the key to our successful lives. Not only has our schooling expanded our minds intellectually, but it has been one of the basic factors in the development of well-rounded personalities-the foundation of our happiness. We have inherited from thousands of past generations our culture and the fun- damental principles which govern our lives- On, this inheritance, our success and ad- vancement will be built. As we have expected more of each succeeding generation, so will the coming generation expectmore of us. Therefore, our goal is to go ahead, to give to our successors an even greater birthright than the one that was given to us. Tonight our course is changed, not to stop learning, for we can never do that: but to take upon ourselves the formation of our lives, to leave the guidance of our school. but never to lose her influence upon our character. X Our parents and teachers have molded our past, and we are to fashion our fut- ures with the facilities that have been developed within us. Our future is in our hands to make of it what we will.- Dora Sims. 'Y' Salutatory Parents, Friends, and Faculty Members: To-night the class of 48 will leave Beecher High School. It is with deep regret that we pass th-rough these doors which will close behind us forever. Twelve years ago, this seemed to us a lifetime, tonight as we look back, it has been but a 'fleeting moment. A To our parents, we want to thank you for your love and guidance. You have car- ried us through when we perhaps would have stumbled and fallen by the way. To our friends, we owe a special thank you, for each has contributed to the build-ing of our characters and the happiness of our lives. . To our Teachers and Faculty, we thank you for your patience, your ht-lp, and your advice. -For as t'he twigis bent so shall the tree grow. To our School board members, a hearty welcome and many ,thanks for your kind interest in all our sports and activities and the time spent in your wise selection of teachers. ' ' . Our ship at last has reached-its port, Laden with riches untold, And its up to us, individually To sift the chaff from the gold. Perhaps our roads may cross somewhere, And we shall meet again, But forever to you Dear Beecher High Our 'loyalty will remain. And as we go to take our place, And start our life anew, We'll take the knocks and the glories alike And smiling we'll come through. Then when we reach t-he end of the road, And it's time to stay Good-night, Our thoughts will turn backward to Beecher High The home of the Red and White. And now as we bid farewell, may we realize and meet the future with a deter- mination that will not falter or faiil. Delores Hamilton.
