SPECIAL RECUGNITIII This group is composed of students who have won special recognition during the past school year. Bill Geshwiler was selected by the American Legion to represent Beech Grove High School at Boys' State. Sharron Weiger, Marilyn Prather, and Frances King were awarded first place medals for baton twirling in the District Contest. Carol Morgan was chosen by Senior Class and faculty vote to be the D. A. R. Good Citizen from Beech Grove. Alta Faye Lackland, with a vocal solo, and J oe Rice, with aFrench horn solo, won first place medals in the District Solo and Ensemble Contest and also attended the State Contest at Bloomington. Absent from the picture are Mary Etta McMasters, winner of the local Voice of Democracy essay contest and Richard Bunnel, another first place winner in the District Solo and Ensemble Contest. K QUIZ 'EM TEAM .Terre Thompson, Rita Conway, Thelma Hunter, Alta Faye Lackland, Bob Wagner, Harold Layne, Mr. Van Horn, Sponsor. The Quiz 'em Contest is a radio current event quiz show for high school students. This year's team from Beech Grove defeated Tudor Hall but was defeated by one question in the second round by Lawrence Central.
