CLASS HISTORY In the fall of l9L9, two groups of eighty-six ardent students, devoted to the acquisition of knowledge from books, mounted the historic steps of Bedford Training School. We were in a whirl of confusion, having just finished ele- mentary training in various schools. This perplexing situation was easily solved as we were placed under the guidance of Mrs. I. L. Seymour and Mrs. E.J. Franklin. We hoped for the time when we would be full-fledged high school students. The second year, we became freshmen and we began to mold records which would influence us all our lives. Under the careful supervision of Mrs. E.S. Davenport and Rev. E. E. Palmer, we began to adjust ourselves to the 'New lorld'. Mr. J. I. Jones became our Principal the same year. Soon we became interested in the activities of the school, and we began to take part inaports and the several clubs of the school. We began our sophomore year with more courage and more desire to succeed. le were put under the superintendence of Mrs. C. B. Johnson, Jr., and Mr. P.M. Otey. le worked even harder to achieve in sports and other activities of the school. At last, we, as juniors, began to visualize the end of our high school career. le had finally acquired a measure of intellectual uplifting. Here we became one division under the guidance of Mr. P. M. Otey. We elected as offi- cers--Frederick Kyle, President, Rebecca Wright, Secretary, and Doris Braxton, Treasurer. With our combined efforts, we, as juniors, had accomplished the highest goal of our high school days. Thus we ended our junior year. In the fall of 1953, we prepared to round the last lap of our high school days, and with the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Whitlock, we planned extensively each project we attempted. Our accomplishments were worthy models of our aggrandlzement. We are hoping that the influence of the graduating class of 'Sh will be instilled in each following class. le, the seniors, challenge the juniors to create an even higher standard for Bedford Training School. To the faculty, we extend our gratitude for their efforts in helping us to achieve this important milestone on the long road to success.
