Bedford High School, a part of the North Lawr- ence Community Schools since 1965. is one of seven high schools headed by Superintendent Dan A. Schafer. Dr. Schafer is pioneering a new vocational building and a single senior high school for the entire school system. Dr. Schafer and the Board of School Trustees strive to attain quality education consistent with the efficient use of tax monies. SEATED: Mrs. Judy T. Elliott, Mr. Perry E. Mullis, Dr. R. W. Medlock. MR ELMER DUNBAR is truly a man suited for his work As prlncipal of Bedford High School his duties con- sist of everything from assembling student curriculums to regulating the janitor services He considers teenagers the nicest people rn the world and finds them very agreeable to work with It is evident that he enjoys his position since this IS his ninth year at Bedford and his twenty first year as a senlor high school principal Mr Dunbar s friendly and help- ful attitude has made him a person well liked and respected Bed ord Principals, Faculty, and Staff MR. CHARLES E. HARTMAN, assistant principal, backs up Mr. Dunbar in all matters of school administration. Mr. Hartman also regulates extracurricular activities, con- cerns himself with school spirit and conduct. and delves into the various curriculums offered. As assistant principal,gMr. Hartman is no longer di- rectly involved with the guidance department, but he is al- ways willing to counsel when called upon, and offers sage advice to those who do so. His wide scope of interests and his ability to understand, strengthened by his lengthy serv- ice at Bedford High School which began in 19-L7, signifi- cantly reflect Mr. Hartman's status.
