THE SCENE The Bedford High School class of 19 54 is the twenty-seventh class to be graduated from the present high school building. During this time the high school enrollment has risen constantly, new departments have been added to the school, and additional teachers have been hired. During this time Bedford High School has been fully accredited by the Iowa Department of Public Instruction as well as the North Central Association of Schools. ' 2

INTRODUCTION In this permanent record of the 1953-1954 school year, it is the aim of the Torch Staff to give you in both pictures and words the story of this past school year. We sincerely hope that the viewers of this yearbook will enjoy its contents and that this annual will bring back memories of the '53-'54 school days. The seniors have worked hard to raise the money for this annual in a great many ways. Without the combined effort of the class of 1954, the publication of this yearbook would not have been possible.
