The most oibstrepe-rous forward can't lbaffle her-and wh-en sshe starts to wave that hall-. ESTER DENTON-Junior. Better than anything else at all Mike Denton loves to play fbasketball, Mike had a bad lknee but she gritied her teeth and played championship basket- ball. RUTH MEIKLE-Junior. Ran lher way to fame as a side 'center-small in stature ibut ,great in basket- ball capacity-Ruth and Milly they can't be beaten! R-UTH DAUGHERTY-Senior. To -be added to Bedfo1'd'si lonig list of famou-s guards always right there - we know we wexre safe with Ruth on the job.

Las GIRLS' BASKET BALL The Bedford girls had another victorious season in 1927 and '28. They played 17 games in all and piled up a score of 465 to their opponents' 299. The first three games rbefore Christmas were with Gravity, New Market and Maloy. The girls easily de-feated Gravity 28-10. The nc-xt game was with New Market. This game was clos.er than the score would indicate. At the end of the half the score was 8-7 in favor of Bedford. The game ended in favor of N. M., 19-13. The girls were hampered by lack of playing room. The Maloy game proved' easy, the girls winning by a large margin, 33-13. The- sextette triumph-ed over the next two teams. Winning from Conway 33-19 and from Maloy 21-20. The next game was with the chimpionship team of N. W. Mis- souri, Ravenwofod. This game was the second 'defeat of the season, Losing 22-33. But when we findi Ravenwood Missouri State Champions for 1928 we cannot feel hurt . The next contests were with Gravity, both games being easily won by scores of 27-12 and 33-6 respectively. The latter was played on Gravity's floor. The last game before the tournament was played with Lenox, here. It looked very doubtful for Bedfiord until the last quarter. The girls staged a last minute rally and brought .the score up from 13-7 to 13-13. The Girls' Taylor County tournament was held' at Bedford the 17th and 18th of February. This proved to 'be one of the best girls' tournaments ever wit- nessed on the local floor. The three strong teams, Bedford, New Market and Lenox, came through the first round with flying colors. Bedford played Clear- field in the first nound. the second team playing the whole. second half. The score was 28-17. In the second round Lenox played New Market, Saturday morning, Lenox winning by a vory small margin 12-13. Saturday afternoon Bedflord played New Market. This game was very close until the last three minutes of play when the girls broke lose on a scoring attack, making the vic- tory 23-17. The final was played before a pa-cked house Saturday night at 8:00 o'clock. This was a breath-takin-g game. The score was tied at the end of every quarter except the last one. In the last few minutes of play the players came back with their famous last quarter rally and won .the game by three- points, 13-16. Although we proved we were the best team in the County-Jfrrie Rob- erts was .the only player placed on the all-tournament team-Ruth Daugherty and Mildred Kemery were placed on the second team. The, girls had a little hard lu-ck in the Se-cti-onal Tournament. After defeat- ing Gravity 45-8, they were defeated by one point by LeRoy, In the final LeRoy defeated Lenox 24-11.
