Parents Faculty Classmates and Fruends Tonught as our hugh school fades unto the background the days months and years become only a memory just a pleasant thought of the tume that we the graduates of l953 have spent to gether As they passed the turne went by seemungly purposeless Now as we look back ut has been but a fleetung moment over flowung wuth uoys and experuences that has guven us a well rounded educatuon Throughout our schoolung we have been taught to use our tume to the best possuble advantage Now as we leave our sheltered hugh school days we realuze more fully the meanung of tume Today may be the opportunuty and occasuon of our luves The success and completeness of our enture lufe may depend upon what we do or say today lt us for us therefore to use every moment of today as uf our very exustence were dependent on uts works and deeds Few of us realuze that thunkung and plannung systematucally are the greatest tume savung devuces known to man Many of us put off untul tomorrow what should be done today causung much useless squanderung of thus pruceless element ln a world fulled wuth chaos ut us necessary for one to be an untellugent uudge of the worthwhule thungs to whuch he devotes hus abulutues and talents Each one of us may not have the same vuews as to what these worthwhule thungs are as each person s preference us hus pruvulege ln every fueld or occupatuon the need for savung tume stull faces everyone We may not consuder tume to 'be such an umportant element but what can restore the moment that has passed the day whose sun has set or the year that has been num bered wuth the ages gone? Tume can never be reclaumed As has so ably been saud before Tume and tude waut for no man lt us therefore my earnest and contunual prayer that we may always remember these profound truths and so choose wusely and well the work and the play that wull best serve our needs May we always and ever use our tume both un the present and un the future un the very best way possuble for us as unduvuduals rememberung always and I quote Thus above all to thune own self be true and ut must follow as the nught the day Thou canst not then be false to any man Thank you Joanne VanKurk Valeductoruan I I' 1 1 1 1 1 1 I 1 1 - ' 1 1 ' 1 1 - 1 ' 1 , . Parents Faculty Frnends and Fellow Classmates Tonrght nt as my pruvllege to welcome you to the seventh annual classnught program of Bedford Hugh School lt as a known fact that most of us do not apprecuate what we have untll we have to guve ut up For four years we have worked and played together here at Bedford for four years we have cheered our teams grumbled over long lessons rejoiced over short ones teased and pleased our teachers just as all the classes that came before have done and l suppose as all the classes comung after us wall do And now that the four years are over and we are ready to leave Bedford and although at IS mevltable that we be scattered each to pursue has own course the class of 53 wlll always be bound together nn splrnt But what lses ahead for us graduates? All of us here tonsght are on the threshold of a new lnfe and we again have to work ourselves up unto the rank In whnch we wnll be the happiest We are nothing but beginners nn the school of the world Just as a manufacturing plant turns out Its fmlshed products to be of use to the world so has thus school turned out nts products the graduating class of I953 We are the cutnzens of tomorrow the future leaders of thus country the ones who have to determnne between rlght and wrong What we have done and how we have done It durnng the past twelve years wall largely determine how we shall run our Infe nn the future Yes what Iles ahead for us graduates as a bug question and a question not easily answered Wnll the world be ready and wnllmg to be of and to us or wnll lt be ready to destroy our hopes and dreams? We are about to leave our sheltered and protected home llfe and to go out to work on the biggest job we wull ever have to tackle That job IS to keep thls country a democracy a free world free from persecutuon and dlctatorshnp We only hope and pray that we wall be successful so that when our work IS done here on earth we will be prnvuleged to hear the words of Saunt Paul Well done thou good and falthful servant Our teachers have played the leadung part ln our school llfe and not one of us could ever thank them enough for the way they have stayed by us helpnng us when we were discouraged The class of l953 can pomt with prnde to tts achuevements and now last but by all means not least the goal whlch for four years we have strrven to reach IS here graduatlon Commence ment rs nndeed appropruately named for It marks only the begun nmg of what IS to follow We must now say farewell to the past and bud welcome to the future and to what It holds for us Thank you Anna Wuemeyer Salutatorlan 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 I 1 ' I 1 . 1 . 1 1 ' 1 I ' 1 1 ' I 1 1 1 I I 1 . . . . 1, I I - 11 I , .
