And all through the town- Maryann MePike and Paula Thomas look very encr- getic as they start out to sell their allotted traditional Christmas holly. The selling of holly wreaths and pine doorknockers every Christmas is the major money raising project of the senior class. The gifts for the school and faculty, and the expenses of senior week take care of all the money made from the project. XY'e are happy to report that this year, as last year, every holly wreath and doorknocker, 800 items in all, was sold by our hardworking senior class. l This page is sponsored by CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK

Bill Gulzlrwrl rrouvlx Bwfzi Mui Qncrrl nl IlIHll1'Li0NlffIKQ Dann' The first Homecoming in the history of Bedford High School was held on October 16, 1953, at the Bedford football field at our last home game of the 1953-'54 season. One candidate from each class was chosen by her class- mates for Homecoming Queen, from these the football team and coaches named the Queen. The girls chosen for queen were: Marlene Casada, seniorg Barbara Rothrock, junior, Becky May, sophomore, and Ann Hall, freshman. Becky May was chosen to reign as the Hrst Queen of the first homecoming. Sections of the bleachers were reserved for the alumni of the last five years and the classes were introduced during half time. The climax of the Homecoming, the crowning of the Queen, took place previous to the major game. The four candidates were presented in convertibles that paraded around the field, and then the girls were escorted by a member of the team to the designated crowning spot. Bill Gabbert, acting football captain, named and crowned Becky May as Queen on behalf of the team after expressing his gratitude to the many persons who made our home- coming possible. A Homecoming Dance held at the Youth Center immediately following the game concluded this historical event.
