Friends Donna Coughlin and Angie Freeman enjoy the sunshine. SBII Saturday September 24 dawned clear and sunny, perfect for the annual Bedford Day celebrations. The day kicked off with the parade, led by the Bedford Fire De- partment engines and ladders, and Fire Departments from other towns, some as near as Blllerica and Burlington, some as far away as New Hampshire and the Cape. Their sirens could be heard a mile away. Next came the town officials, who took their places on the reviewing stand and saluted the main body of the parade. This was led by the B.H.S. marching band, complete with majorettes and flag squad. Drill Teams from B.H.S. and neighboring Air Force bases, and various community based groups, such as the Rainbow Girls, completed the line-up. After the parade, there was the chance to enjoy food and fun at the booths set up by community organizations. The Citizens Scholarship Foundation challenged peo- ples ' minds with a quiz game, while the Parents of Music Students (P.O.M.S.) sold food as a fund-raiser. As always, Bedford Day provided a way for School and Community, young and old, to get together and have a day of fun. It also gave us the opportunity to renew our pride in being part of the histor- ic Town of Bedford. Where are you, Miss Manning? Cheerleaders Jill Oblas, Suzi Ferro.
